Thoughts on an idpol struggle session thread?

Clearly we haven't spoken about idpol in the past 2(?) years since the site-wide ban.

Maybe we need to revisit it and engage in a struggle session about idpol, not about specific idpol topics. Newfriends probably don't know what anti-idpol means, and people still repeat vulgar marxist takes on idpol.

yeah there was usually allowed various degrees of discussion of idpol on 8chan and bunkerchan, its that the rule at its current severity only came about because of bunkerchan (and specifically the whole incel/idpol gulag debacle)

but the rule did exist back during 8chan, if you go back in the archives you can still find mentions of it at various points. it was a lot looser than now granted but it was used to form specific threads as containment for idpol topics, a good example being the old gender-crit containment bunker here

Bunkerchan was well known for its persistent technical problems for years which lead the site to frequent crashes and outages especially during periods of high volume of posts. These problems couldn't be fixed that quickly, sometimes for DAYS, because the site owner refused to allow the staff to have server access, and also didn't fix the problems quickly on his own either. Also he rubbed people the wrong way by generally being a petty smug asshole. The moderators started to make their own website as a plan of last resort. Once he found out about this he got mad and decided to kick out all the mods that participated in this endeavor. The moderators refused to allow this so the site owner pulled a 'Reagan breaking the traffic controllers union' move and fired them all. They ended up finishing this site, staying here and eventually everyone migrated over.

Also at some point a rogue mod who had mod status on both sites ended up deleting a bunch of posts over there. There was only one mod who remained loyal to the old site owner and after the split, the site owner got depressed because everyone left so he gave ownership of the site to that last mod guy who is the new owner of bunkerchan.net

Now most people have migrated here and the old site is filled with right wing crossposters, spammers, etc.

Maybe its just my biased opinion but the main reason for the fall of bunkerchan was Space_'s egotism and arrogance, not by simply refusing his staff's demands, but also being very cryptic and condescending about the whole thing too, actively mocking and antagonizing them by telling them "its my way or the highway, if you don't like it, leave". Then once they did and he discovered that running the site is actually work, he fucked off and handed it over to someone else.

I know this is going to anger people who already have taken a side, but I’m just saying what the majority of the people think about this shit.
Both sides need to realize they have made some errors and are BOTH contributing to the decay of the community by continuing the split. Until the splits end, NONE of the two websites will EVER recover the PPH and user number that bunkerchan.xyz had before the split.
You know why the number of users dropped? BECAUSE THEY DON’T HAVE THE TIME TO CARE ABOUT YOUR PETTY SHIT.
The sooner the split ends, the sooner we can grow back the user base and be back on track to build a big and influential leftist imageboard.

Mods and Admins of both websites need to reestablish contact with the other side and begin collaborating in concrete terms to make this realization possible. With honesty, good will and as well as reasonable amount of open-mindedness I believe we can reunify in less than one month.

I am therefore highlighting my proposal to heal both site and make them into one big site again:
<the mods teams of bunkerchan and leftypol will merge into one, both sides will wield equal power
<the tech-teams of both websites will merge into one and collaborate to make the website better
<total transparency of admin and mods activity, ask the users for feedback and use their choices to take a decision when tension arise between mods
<no more suicide-nuking of the boards, issues must be resolved with the community directly, no matter his position, if someone is hindering the progress of the site, remove him
<which final site we will go on depends on what the users prefers

Instead of having the same fucking boards as bunkerchan, divide the site according to the different variants of left-wing political economy and group the ones that are similar in the same board. For example, all Anarchos on one board, M-Ls, Hoxhaists and Leninists on another one, Leftcoms and Ultras, Liberals and Sucdems, etc. Hell you can create one for Nazis and Lolberts where they can get reeducated after getting banned on the rest of the site, an actual gulag of sorts.

I guarantee you you will surpass the bunker in PPH and users because it is something neat and original. You can even create weekly activities like debates or vydia tournaments between boards while discussing theory. There is a fandom of political balls that can both be used as a guide to make the new boards and new flags, which will be a representation of each political ball. Similar to Krautchan. I can help you making these balls, I used to make pixel art.

Unless you stop being thet copy from bunkerchan no one will come here.

The point of imageboards (or any social media) is to communicate with other people. If an average poster cant expect a significant amount of replies within, say… 24hrs, then why bother posting at all?

I would say the best thing that could be done rn is to concentrate activity into a few useable boards and then grow/scale back up as needed. Right now, only /leftypol/ has any meaningful amount of activity and its barely enough as is (see >>3325). We should focus on keeping it alive before fucking around with /hobby/ and /tech/ boards. Think of it as crisis management, after all if there are no posters, what is the point of the entire site?

In short, my proposals.

1) TEMPORARILY, get rid of all boards other than /leftypol/ and /meta/. Theres no need to delete them, just hide them like /dead/ and bring it back when the need arises.

2) TEMPORARILY, reduce the number of simultaneously active threads (permanently imo). From the catalog I count over 16x21 (336) active threads? thats seems ridiculous. It's cool that conversations can be revisited and picked up much later but it has the same effect of splitting activity too thinly. Again, better to have 3 threads with 30 replies than 30 threads w/ 3 replies. From glancing at 4chinz I would recommend 10x12 (120) threads, they have more but are also over a 1000 times larger. If it's enough for them, it's plenty here.

3) ADVERTISE, the site once it starts to pick up. It may feel gross and shameless, but it's only necessary to reach a critical mass of posters then you'll NEVER have to do it again. How is anyone supposed to know this place exists? It doesn't have to be shameless e-begging either; lot's of people found bunkerchan through screenshots tagged with the site name. The catch is it ONLY works if the site is worth caring about in the first place. Manufacturing fake screenshots is silly and all the advertising in the world means little if no-one cares enough to hang around. Building a good community comes first, telling others about it second.

I would question the benefits of getting rid of boards now that we have an overboard. The way they work now has a nice balance for preserving topics that don't get bumped often enough to not basically die on /leftypol/, while not totally cutting them off from an audience since they will intermittently be seen by overboard users.

3) would seem like it should be the main priority: When people look for /leftypol/ they need to be directed here, not to Bunkerchan. ideally we'd send /pol/ spammers there, obviously, but we're also better equipped to handle them if they arrive. That's the one big disadvantage we presently have.
