However sometimes the cruelty is the point: they have to traumatize the population enough to be receptive to the idea that communism bad, that the bourgeois create jobs, that homeless people are lazy, etc. Thoughts about the contradictions of capitalism have to trigger a traumatic response so that you block any thoughts about the true state of things.
