Why do tankies suck Putin's dick so much? They keep calling the Euromadian protests a CIA coup. As if anyone is clamoring to join Russia's AIDS and Heroin ridden sphere over the rich EU.
Putin was literally installed by the CIA. He was given millions to save Boris Yelin from losing to actually Soviets during his second Presidential run. Then seized power himself and never left.
I don't get it. Russia would be run by elected Soviets right fucking now if it wasn't for Putin. But you all act like he's a superior hero of anti imperialism

>They keep calling the Euromadian protests a CIA coup.
It was.
I say this as someone who was on the other side of this argument until embarrassingly recently. In 2022, when they were claiming they'd accept anyone, I was trying to join the volunteer force for Ukraine. I downplayed the significance of American intelligence operations in Ukraine which had occurred over the years prior to the coup; in reality, it was crucial. Ukrainian nationalism was a real thing, it was fertile ground for them to work with, but the maidan coup would likely never have happened without CIA support, and the intention was entirely to exploit and control Ukraine. That's just what happened, and the evidence supports this, and even American mainstream media has admitted the heavy CIA involvement by now (the New York Times even ran a piece on it a year or two ago).

I don't believe Russia had a right to invade, not in 2014, and not in 2022, but the US didn't have a right to meddle in Ukraine either, and the US absolutely would have known that what they were doing would be seen (correctly) as a threat by Russia. Russia ultimately had genuine defensive reasons to invade, even though some of their reasons which they factored in were worse than others. Given the sort of things which happen to countries with vast wealth and resources when the US establishes bases nearby, Russia had genuine reasons to want to deter it; any calculation Russian leadership made would have to factor in the sorts of things the US would do should it comfortably encircle Russia, and Russians can't really be blamed for wanting to prevent this at all costs.

>As if anyone is clamoring to join Russia's AIDS and Heroin ridden sphere over the rich EU.

Ukraine was already in Russia's sphere, and there are poorer states in the EU which are doing very badly. What's more, a lot of the wealthy EU countries still don't offer much in terms of material power; militarily and industrially, many of them are not as rich as they like to pretend, and, in fact, all of them bow before the United States, and even the US's most-favorite-partner "israel." The genocide of Palestinians is even more unpopular in Europe than it is in the United States, and, yet, Europeans have no power to stop their money and resources and arms from funding it, nor to break relations with "israel" even after years. For US imperial wars, Europe consistently lends its approval without the consent of its citizens. The EU is a strangely weak, poor, and oligarchic place to be, supposedly, so different from the Russian Federation. Ukraine, today, with a government aligned with the west, aligned with the United States, has somehow not recovered from its corruption or poverty-related problems.
If everyone in Ukraine wanted to leave so badly, one also wonders why it was necessary for the CIA to direct a coup.

>But you all act like he's a superior hero of anti imperialism

Never did this. Still don't.
My credit to Putin, and there are discredits and reasons to be skeptical (like the first one you mentioned - that he was the favorite, as far as I know, of the US at the time he became president, and, additionally, his continued economic relations with "israel" and closeness with the Chabad cult), is that he leads a country, Russia, which is ultimately less evil and less violent than the world's most powerful and rapacious empire, the United States. Besides that, he's better, for Russia, than Yeltsin was, although this is not a high compliment. He doesn't cave to deranged US dictates (unlike literally every EU leader, even the ones who pretend not to cave to said dictates), and he offers some (albeit smaller than would be beneficial) material solidarity to other states who also operate in opposition of the great dictates.

The US has imperial designs on Russia - the US has imperial designs on Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, etc. This is a fact. Russia is correct to be in opposition to this. From my perspective today, I wonder if Russia acts with enough urgency, even. Whether or not Putin is opposed enough to it is the question.
