work for a shady contractor at a warehouse owned by multi billion dollar grocery store corporation, i unload the trucks with forklifts, restack the pallets, wrap them up and other bullshit so they can be 'recieved', i work in the freezer, so it's very cold, which i like, usually you get paid extra for shit like this, but i make less than minimum wage, i'm also working 10-12 hour shifts, exept when they let me out crazy early for days in a row dropping my check down to pocket change

they have this bullshit called 'production pay' which is obviously just some cheese to keep you running on a hamster wheel and act like it's you're fault they don't pay you shit, basically each truck is worth a set amount of money, and supposedly you can make more money the more trucks you move, but the price of the trucks is variable and it's basically impossible to make more thru production than the base pay which is $14 an hour. And then they tell me if i don't make production pay by end of 3 months i'm fired, which, i'm hoping to get a better job by then so, fuck it

if you are employed by the company outright they have good was explained the reason the company doesn't just hire it's own people to do this bullshit, but i was explained it's for legal liability reasons, so basically aside from doing all the most important and intensive labor for less money, i'm also a legal liability shield, yay… the company basically treats us contractors are untouchables / leeches, we don't get the free goodies the company gives out and everyone looks at us with contempt and blames us when anything goes wrong ( and it's like yeah you pay us below minimum wage ) this is in the US South so you know they'd bring back Jim Crow if they could.

10-12 hours at below minimum?
I forgot there were even states in the south which set it at $15. Sucks that they're still underpaying through contract BS.

it's supposed to be 15 here but i think employers are just ignoring that and the gop suckers in the state legislature aren't enforcing it

even worse than the contractor shit is piecemeal, which is like 5-10 an hour maybe if you're really good, used to be only undocumented people did that, but with so many of them hiding a lot of citizens are being forced to do that

also food service places will often pay less than minimum wage because you're supposed to get tips, even if you're in the back of the restaurant
