What have m/a/nga have you been reading lately, /anime/? For me personally it was probably Beastars and Chainsaw Man, both until the last released chapter at the time and i haven't gotten to reading them again. Both are fairly enjoyable and interesting, although fair warning that the latter is rather angsty. It has some nice character designs, though.

Spoiler for body horror.

still keeping up with Watamote, and happy that the next chapter seems to be Ucchi centered, she's good for comedy but i hope they can do more with her weird attraction besides that, eventually
Kaguya-Sama got a bit serious with drama and shit, which isn't exactly what i got into it for, but it handles it well enough and it seems to have come to a conclusion with the latest chapter
i liked how they managed the transition between the getting together and now dealing with the relationship
i only just started "The Private Report on My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness" and it seems interesting enough to keep me going to the end, the art is pretty cute

I haven't read a manga in years and the last ones I read (and enjoyed) were Bride's Story and Dead Dead Demon's De De De De Destruction.
I guess I will lurk this thread for suggestion.

Jesus Christ anon, why? What is there left to enjoy in that after the author buried everything good about the original concept?
>>

 No.447

simple: i still see the original concept, and people like you just can't cope with Tomoko having character development rather than being resistant to learning and remaining stuck with the same joke playing out until she probably suicides

>Tomoko having character development
First off, was the necessary in a comedy mango? Second, did that actually happen? They just gave her a million friends she didn't deserve. The best way to end the manga would be to have her lose all her friends now to show readers how artificial these things really are, but the author would never have the guts to do that.

yes

so what you're saying there's no real reason arguing about the direction it went because you just can't see it going out of your own bitterness
look, arguing like that you could say all her interactions with Naruse or at latest Imae were ruining the comedy
if you didn't see where they were going by the time she got her first hug, then there's nothing that can be said to help you

I liked what little i read of DeDeDe a lot. I haven't actually gotten to actually pulling through to the last chapter because the whole thing feels strangely heavy for a mango, it fills me with existential dread and the art is just too nice to not stop and look at it. Solanin is still probably Asano's best tbf
Yokohama Shopping Log has a bit of a similar vibe, i think, but more in the sense of it making you feel comfy but empty because it's obviously not nearly as contemporary.

Usagi-moku Shachiku-ka is pretty comfy. The moon rabbits that appear throughout the manga all literally require work to live and their main task in their original moon habitation was production of mochi. The main human protagonist feels forced to "hire" one of them and it all just flows from there. There's a quasi-anarchist moon rabbit that appears in later chapters. Pic is not of that rabbit, just found it pretty worthy of a reaction image.

I've been keeping up with Shonen line plus Nagatoro, Komi, One punch, and a few others.

I've been also reading and enjoying Berserk, I was also thinking about getting into Vinland Saga. Is Vinland any good? If so, can I watch the anime and switch to the manga or do I have to do pure manga read of it like watamote?

>>448
>Was it necessary
How would you make a 176 chapter manga that's all about this one character and not do any character development? The only manga top of my head closely does this is my hero academia, and that's constantly shit on for how little the main character has changed as of late.

>Did it happen? All they did was giver her a bunch of friends

The whole manga was about improving her social skills before she got any friends. Giving her friends and not having her lose them or be on general bad terms like the her Kotomi Komiyama, is a sign of her social skills improving, aka character development.

I recommend picking it back up, I use to think that the manga jumped the shark until I re-read the manga and started noticing all the small developments that I didn't really care that much attention to in my first reading, like Nemo's development of going from a closet neet who couldn't tell her friends about her dreams, to now.

I found this about a month ago. Cute and light. I don't really read manga but I'm invested. It's suprisingly subtle at times, if the occasional lengthy comments are anything to go by. Things develop at a nice pace. There's also the hilarious case of the original synopsis and first chapter bringing in the edgelord crowd.

It's by the same lady who made Mitsudomoe for those who know more. The anon translation schedule is supposed to be biweekly but the lockdown has sped things up. There's a lot of extra chapters by the author and people are trying to work out the timeline.

I read this
https://mangadex.org/title/8790/kami-sama-ga-uso-wo-tsuku

I love this kind of short manga, you can tell the author is pouring their heart into it instead of mindlessly making chapter after chapter just to sell.
3 days of happiness is also pretty good, altough it's based on a novel.

Has anyone read the recent manga about Soviet Women in WW-2? I want to know if its worth a read.
Its called “The Unwomanly Face of War Vol. 1” by Kadokawa Corp. The name is a clear reference to the Nobel winning Search Results
Web results The Unwomanly Face of War by Svetlana Alexievich, which details excerpts from many female soldiers of the war.

I've binged gakkou gurashi and now I can't wait for the translation of the first chapter of it's sequel.
It is a weird manga. On the one hand it has some glaring flaws, but it's characters are so lovable you just have to root for them. The author is extremely good at provoking an emotional response from the reader. I also liked it's take on the zombies and their details.
(Pics are not really a spoiler but two panels I liked which hit me like a ton of bricks, they may not be as meaningful out of context. View them at your own discretion.)

the only thing that distinguishes watamote from other, better stories with the same themes is the yuribaiting. i don't have any complaints about e.g. onani master kurosawa because the story is actually told competently lol, it btfos watamote in humor and in portraying going from a total fuckup to a lesser fuckup. the one thing watamote does well is give you the sense that tomoko never had any real problems to begin with (bullying is too heavy for a comedy manga after all!) - which is pretty, i dunno, refreshing and realistic. most real people resembling her don't have some ultra dramatic tragic backstory you see in these kinds of manga (except, again, bullying), they're just mildly autistic. this unfortunately kinda lessens the weight of the "development" which is why a lot of people perceive her popularity as random and unsatisfying (beyond simple bitterness which yes exists in responses to the manga)
>>454
simple, don't make it 176 chapters. not everything needs to be hyper stretched out and milked for every last ounce of content. some ideas aren't served by hundreds of chapters of reprising and reiterating. that goes both for the original cringe comedy premise and whatever it is now.
