Some like it, others find it disgusting too and prefer cute bishies or something in between. It also depends on the artist (some of them draw truly ridiculous, grotesque muscles and dicks that I can't help but wonder who actually faps to that shit). But it seems that gay men tend to like it a lot more.

I think it was in the last decade that yaoi and bara (and the respective styles associated with them) began to "merge" somewhat and the result became more popular than before.
