This will be a thread for posting and sharing Documentaries about history as a whole.
I was sitting around watching Step back and I realized it has been a while since I have seen any of those old BBC like documentaries about historical figures.

Doesn't have to be older though. If you have any Youtube links or torrents to look up post them here. Thanks anons.

Here's one on the last gasps of Britain's organized labour movements in the 1980's, specifically the battle between the state police and local miners in Orgreave:

Here's a playlist for a good docudrama series about the war on the eastern front, russian-produced originally and dubbed to english. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLY-Fb3vVQUeqi7Uye-vJ_r7TO8PZFDAfr the soundtrack especially kicks ass and its mostly focused on just recreating what happened in each battle that's covered, the important people that participated and what equipment was used.

Not really an official proper documentary but this guy called Drachinifel(no not the original baddy from Warhammer Fantasy) does a lot of good documentary style videos on naval history stuff. I like it cause I'm a dumb naval history nerd.

Otherwise there's that BBC documentary on the breakup of Yugoslavia which manages to not be utter shit.

And most Oliver Stone shit, I mean he's a liberal but it's good to watch his stuff usually boil down to "US bad".

Damn that's weird I just started watching this guy a week ago.

If you only watch one video, this one is hilarious even if you're not a naval autism guy

Hello frens, which documentaries by Adam Curtis do you recommend? I already watched Hypernormalisation, All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace and The Century of the Self.

As someone who used Curtis as a stepping stone to their radicalization and then realized in hindsight he is not that profound, I'd say looking back it was The Trap: What Happened to Our Dream of Freedom that was the most important documentary for me. While All Watched Over is ok, Hypernorm is a bit overrated, as it is more of a stiching of all his previous works + cultural analysis of the '16. Meanwhile Trap covers extensivelly the workings of modern burgoise ideology, its effect on the populace, and also taught and radicalized me to accepting possitive liberty. Aside from this doc, Bitter Lake and The Power of Nightmares are likely the best, as these cover historical events and the actors on different sides of them (specifically Afghanistan and the neocon actions globally).

A documentary that I watched a while back was "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." Its about the 2002 coup on Hugo Chavez, and its a pretty interesting watch as the people making the documentary were there on the scene the days before, during and after the coup. Something that I liked was that they showed you the different class reactions to the idea of the Chavez presidency. Like obviously, we can guess, but I still hate/love seeing the porkies taking their mask off.

I found this on youtube regarding the Internationale, short but really good.

The bit with the Communard in the USSR is amazing, never knew they lived that long but it makes sense, only 46 years.

Also love the bit with the different communist leaders in the 1930s.
