I'll start.

Probably all of them. The Ramones had a liberal singer, conservative guitar player, and the bass player used to write pro-nazi lyrics for the Jewish singer to sing. But I love em.

what is the politics of oingo boing

Why would you want to know the politics of your favorite artists?

Jello Biafra started out as an angry and class conscious but vague "anarchish" punk. went on to be a kind of generic 90s type anti-globalization socdem running with the green party. today on his vlog… okay he still has many radical ideas, that's nice. but he is a total russiagater these days!

ever listen to the lyrics of songs that you like?

Basically all punk rock. I used to fully enjoy it when i was 15, but since i'm no longer an anarchist or "nihilist" it kinda makes me cringe now. I still think it's a brilliant genre somehow, and it accompanies me when i feel angry or sad, but it depends on the band.
Btw look how retarded these lyrics are

Just the first album already has two songs making fun of socialists.

>Artists you love for their music who have dumbshit politics
All of them, artists are always retarded when it comes to politics, even the ones that agree with me.

Not really, the songs I like mostly don't have lyrics.

Did you see the video of 80s punks promoting the Pfizer vax? Jello was in that. All of those formerly anti-government punks shilled for Fauci's friends on wall street. That was a little sad.

> Communism doesn't work because people like to own stuff.

I read somewhere that these guys are anticommunists, but idk if true

They are Zionist liberals who have a suspicious amount of songs glorifying the Nazi army, but maybe they've moved on from that to become just Zionist libs.
I once read that they made a song about a topic related to communists, and it was criticized by people from that country defending the communist(s). And from then on, they've tried to not write songs about moral ambiguity to avoid controversy, or something like that. Unfortuantely I can't find that interview.

Still, many of their songs slap although they are shit, but they're fun shit

Fucking cocksuckers

I get perfect system but how is little girls making fun of socialists?

>"Capitalism," takes aim at "middle class socialist brat" protestors who "whine about the revolution"
>You're just a middle class socialist brat
>From a suburban family and you never really had to work
>What the hell do you know about suffering and pain, you dumb fuck?
>People were really confused by what I was doing back in the ‘80s. I wrote this song called “Capitalism” and I’m putting down “middle-class socialist brats,” and they’re like, “Oh, so where are you? Are you right wing? Or are you libertarian?” I go, “No —I grew up a middle-class socialist brat. That’s exactly me! I grew up in a super liberal Jewish family. I’m making fun of myself.”
Butthurt, oingo boingo predicted DSA or any red lib

no you

How the fuck did you miss the song called "Capitalism" lmfao

Saying right-wing anti-communist talking points are true to own the libs.

I was also gonna post Crass lmao. Annoying ass anarchists.

>Making fun of your radlib days is anti-communist talking points
>implying there aren't middle class socialist brat like the people at twitter or the DSA now

Still love their shit tho

(you can turn on English subs in this video btw)

So much greentexting ruined your brain, you can't read or be intellectually honest.

Ah yes taking the guy who called himself a "patriot conservative" who "used to be leftist" (until he "grew up"!) who has made several anti-leftist songs at face value. This is shit the right has pulled for literal decades to discredit leftism but no, it must actually agree with your 21st century mindset's views

You're so fucking stupid but this is to be expected from someone still calling others "radlibs" tbh

Zappa was a rare case of an anti-racist libertarian

I guarantee hetfield from metallica is a FAGGOT, he lives on a ranch in colorado and his only hobby is going hunting and collecting cars
he keeps it to himself so I don't mind too much though and a lot of the earlier stuff was highly critical of everything that needs to be criticized

forgot chu.d was filtered

David bowie

>At this time other well-known rock musicians also made inflammatory statements, including David Bowie who expressed support for fascism and admiration for Adolf Hitler in interviews with Playboy, NME and a Swedish publication. Bowie was quoted as saying: "I think Britain could benefit from a fascist leader. After all, fascism is really nationalism… I believe very strongly in fascism, people have always responded with greater efficiency under a regimental leadership." He was also quoted as saying: "Adolf Hitler was one of the first rock stars" and "You've got to have an extreme right front come up and sweep everything off its feet and tidy everything up."[5] Bowie caused further controversy by allegedly making a Nazi salute while riding in a convertible, although he has always strongly denied this, insisting that a photographer simply caught him in the middle of waving.[6] He later retracted and apologised for his statements,[citation needed] blaming them on a combination of an obsession with occultism and Friedrich Nietzsche, as well as his excessive drug use at the time. He said: "I have made my two or three glib, theatrical observations on English society and the only thing I can now counter with is to state that I am NOT a fascist."[5]

Metallica and its consequences (pushing for harsher copyright laws) have been a disaster to the internet.

They can kick and scream all they want but at the end of the day they are rebelling against a fundamental function of computers and the internet: the trivial copying of information. They will lose in the end.

>You're so fucking stupid but this is to be expected from someone still calling others "radlibs" tbh
Yes, because the people on twitter and DSA are radlibs
I only claimed that the anon was butt hurt, like you

>himself a "patriot conservative"

link pls.

>it must actually agree

just like how everyone has to agree with your mind views
not saying he's a socialist, but the song wasn't at face value like anon got butthurt over.

>21st century mindset's views

>not 20th or 19th century mindset's views

>So much greentexting
it was two lines of text

>ruined your brain

Just like getting hurt over anything that sounds negative without looking the context

So david bowie being david bowie

I thought you said first two songs

>There's nothing wrong with capitalism

>There's nothing wrong with free enterprise
>Don't try to make me feel guilty
>I'm so tired of hearing you cry
>There's nothing wrong with making some profit
>If you ask, I'll say it's just fine
>There's nothing wrong with wanting to live nice
>So tired of hearing you whine
>About the revolution, bringing down the rich
>When was the last time you dug a ditch, baby

it's like boomers wrote it

>giving brownie points to conservatives for spreading anti-communist propaganda in a shit song
to those nutjobs every communist is a radlib or whatever

stop simping

You ever hear the song "Angry Young Man"
It feels like a reformist putdown song about a labor/union organizer trying to do good in the world

I don't know how political billy joel really is but I definitely get liberal vibes from him

Look at the lyrics

>I believe I've passed the age of consciousness and righteous rage

>I found that just surviving was a noble fight
>I once believed in causes too
>I had my pointless point of view
>And life went on no matter who was wrong or right

It's so defeatist. It's like the song says just give up. Stop trying and just accept the capitalist system.

>But his honor is pure and his courage as well

>And he's fair and he's true and he's boring as hell
>And he'll go to the grave as an angry old man
>There's a place in the world for the angry young man
>With his working class ties and his radical plans
>He refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl
>He's always at home with his back to the wall
>And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost
>And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross
>And he likes to be known as the angry young man

Demonization of somebody who fights for a better world
Boring, Grumpy

Just shut up and survive, Don't think

It's like a song written from somebody who has made it and become alienated.

This type of capitalist realism "rhetoric" is often tried to passed off as le age old wisdom
But it never really is.

>I used to be leftist like you but then grew up (turned into a conservaboomer)
>I used to be leftist like you but then grew up (stopped caring about any cause)
>you're lazy, you've never worked, you've never participated in a literal war (???)
Right-wing rhetoric hasn't changed for decades I see.

What do you think can be a good counter to such cynicism from leftists?

He was literally gacked on cocaine when he said this. I've been there, loaded on drugs for the 9th time this week, saying "somebody should really do something about this drug problem. It's getting out of hand."

ur mom is a boomer

>every communist

most 90's conservative act like the radlibs of now and probably doesn't what a radlib even is.
Also read bitch, he didn't say communist, the song was something personal and making of himself when was younger
stop nega-simping

no actually
old ass man

i'm gen alpha

>no actually

>old ass man

Yes I am the same poster posting black sabbath in every thread, how could you tell?

I think most well off rock stars or whatever are just sick of people and things relating to people. They have people to deal with that. That's what drives me the most insane, ozzy sings the biggest anti war song in music history and he just sits on the money.
Geezer is based and redpilled though.

>the biggest anti war song in music history
Anon… ?

Never got into Mecano, despite being gay. I feel left out tbh.
The "I used to be leftist" people strike me as insane. What I feel they mean is "I used to be a decent human being, but now I don't care".
>blaming them on a combination of an obsession with occultism and Friedrich Nietzsche, as well as his excessive drug use at the time. He said: "I have made my two or three glib, theatrical observations on English society and the only thing I can now counter with is to state that I am NOT a fascist
That's kinda hilarious ngl. I personally forgive him. I wish contemporary artists read more philosophy.

I don't know if any artist I know has extraordinary shit takes. I don't really like Kanye as much as other people do, but he gets a pass on accounts or having tremendously low IQ.

When dancing was a thing I used to listen to reggaeton. Some of the shit said there is wild. It's changing though. Like it or not, the major artists like Bad Bunny, Ozuna, J Balvin are changing the usual lyrical trash content of reggeaton. Bad bunny, the most important reggeaton artist of the second wave, even put out a really good trans validation video, "Yo perreo sola".

Even the techno I listen to seems to be non-insane right wingers.

Speaking of reggaeton, isn't Calle 13 somewhat class conscious?

>The "I used to be leftist" people
It's more:
I used to be a twitter redlib teenager raise by other liberals
and now i'm making a song making fun of myself/a song he will be pissed off by.

If you meet him during his teenage age your probably be disappointed
This will be most people when the tumblr/twitter era is dead

very label, much wow
>The song was included as a track on the March 1970 Psychedelic Shack album, which featured the title track as its only single. The track's direct message, summarized by its chorus ("War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothin'!"), struck a chord with the American public and resonated with growing public opposition to the war in Vietnam. Fans from across the country, many of them college students and other young people, sent letters to Motown requesting the release of "War" as a single. The label did not want to risk the image of its most popular male group, and the Temptations themselves were also apprehensive about releasing such a potentially controversial song as a single. The label decided not to release "War" as a single, a decision that Whitfield fought until the label came up with a compromise: "War" would be released, but it would have to be re-recorded with a different act.

>During this time period, mandatory army service had recently ended in Britain but with the Vietnam War raging, many young men feared they'd be conscripted to fight in it. "That's what started this whole rebellion thing about not going to war for anybody", said Butler. "I was dreading being called up", the lyricist recalled.

>Prior to its official release, the band often altered the lyrics significantly when performing it live. An example of this can be found on Ozzy Osbourne's compilation The Ozzman Cometh, which features an early version recorded by Black Sabbath for BBC Radio 1 on 26 April 1970. While Butler has said that "War Pigs" is "totally against the Vietnam War, about how these rich politicians and rich people start all the wars for their benefit and get all the poor people to die for them", vocalist Osbourne has stated that the group "knew nothing about Vietnam. It's just an anti-war song."

Still doesn't change anything. "War" is hot, "War Pigs" is not.

>Never got into Mecano, despite being gay.
I only got into them a few years ago after finding an old tape and realizing that I love old synth/technopop (which is a kind of sound that's more noticeable in their early albums). If you don't like that genre, maybe that's why you don't like 'em? Although, to be fair, I already liked some of their songs when I was little.
On the other hand, their more popular songs are from later albums, most notably Entre el cielo y el suelo, and boring/overrated as fuck compared to their earlier music, imo. If you like synthpop, perhaps you've only listened to their later stuff.

Of course, if it's neither of the two, there's nothing wrong with simply not liking their sound. It's not a matter of being gay or not.

Epstein style politics
we deserve it tbh

It'd be easier to name the few that don't have entirely dumb or nonexistent political positions. I don't expect musicians to know anything about anything, except maybe how to express their emotions musically I guess.

With film however it's a different story because the film's ideology is more "in your face". In that case I even prefer pointless films that are just pure aesthetics over yet another regurgitation of what the authors read about "social issues" or "politics" in their preferred MSM.

Yeah, in a very frustrating way. Like he kinda gets it but missed the point anyways.
He's done songs and videos about the struggle of poor immigrants. He did a video supporting Assange. Stuff like that. I'd say he's very class conscious, but is missing the vocabulary to make it radical.
Nice. That's pretty cool. I just feel left out from gay circles sometimes, and was being cheeky :P
Mecano is usually played in weddings and some other scenarios, so it's not actually particularly gay.

And heaps of other black metal bands probably, tbh.
