I know this feel. But I'm 30 and I'm trying to walk the tight rope of losing fat while gaining muscle. I'm eating good nutrients but maybe too little calories and not resting enough or overtraining. It feels like I'm slowly progressing but the slowness is getting dispiriting. What I'm most afraid of though is more body fat, while this kid is skinny as fuck.

Should I eat more and do HIIT after lifting? Or should I try to just lose fat first and focus on muscle gain later? I'm not fat (my BMI is 21), I just have some stubborn fat in certain spots, especially on my chest and stomach.

One thing is to reach that kind of body, another thing is to maintain it. Just like with diets, you can get lean in various ways, but you need to make more fundamental changes to your lifestyle and mentality to stay at that level long-term.

So for now I would just simply aim at losing fat and gaining muscle, your goal always being just slightly ahead of where you're currently. Otherwise you'll lose patience and give up. As you progress it will hopefully become easier to make gradual changes to other aspects of your life. I'm not gonna lie, for me that didn't happen, I'm now just a fit hikikomori with all the same anxieties and depressions as before and lifting is for me just a hobby and a copium, my mood is slightly better after a workout, but that's it. But I still recommend it, at least you'll feel stronger and healthier physically.

I love getting vitamin D and used to cover my face but sunlight on the face is too good.

Will I be safe from cataracts if I am wearing my prescription glasses (not sun glasses)? it has some type of coating that does something to uv rays but i have cleaned it with water, soap and some alcohol and it's about 3 years old.

I also keep my eyes closed for the most part.

Bros I completely gave up on following my meal plan. I dropped from 165ish to 142ish. I’m 5’11 so now I look like a stick again.

I just dont have the will to keep prepping, cooking, running to do groceries, finding new recipes, cleaning dishes, eating for specific nutritional profiles, feeling bloaty all day, worrying over body weight my whole life.

I gave up and it’s honestly kind of relieving like a burden has been lifted. I never liked the diet portion of fitness, I just like the exercising. I just cant see myself doing it my whole life.

I can see how fat people just get fat again, it’s hard to keep the change up for your body’s set point. Also I can see how taking steroids might be the only way to stay lean and muscular at the same time. As soon as I stopped eating, my body just cannibalized my muscles.

Lifestyle changes are damn near impossible if you really dont love the process. But fuck it I hate kitchen stuff, it’s like a second job.

Why not reduce the number of meals and/or eat same simple shit every day? IMO all those complicated bodybuilder recipes with hundred different ingredients are a meme, they just want to prove you can still eat fancy stuff. Doesn't mean you have to, you can just pick a few simple things and mix them together. Currently my main meal is just sardines + beans, it tastes surprisingly good and takes me a minute to prepare. I don't count nutrients and calories anymore either, I just consistently eat what has lots of protein and go by feeling.

What do you mean "stopped eating"? Stopped eating good food? I did that a couple of times as well as stopped exercising completely, but I quickly gained back what I lost, it seems easier to go back to where you already were than to get there the first time.

Yes, it is just pisspoor gymnastics period. Basically uninitiated people found out about a small amount of gymnastics movements and decided to poorly practice it. Since nobody really knows about gymnastics anymore and with their thirdhand knowledge, they didnt know what to call it and just used calisthenics to describe it. If anyone likes ‘calisthenics” they should just do gymnastics and go for the real thing. Gymnastics athletes are overall the fittest in the world.

There’s more to it than just those strength movements too, without the flexibility they really just make it look weak and uncontrolled. In addition they use roids and cheat it a bit which doesn’t help because a gymnast would be disadvantaged with that much mass. They also don’t have the endurance, agility, etc. Tl;dr is they’re just posers.

Fredrich Jahn basically invented modern gymnastics with the horizontal and parallel bars. He was the Turner movement which were a bunch of Prussians that got together in secret and trained gymnastics with each other to fight against Napolean’s occupation of Germany at the time.

Compare them to someone like yuri chechi at his peak, the guy was an absolute beast and one of the strongest in the world.

However I think gymnastics now has become pretty elitist booj bullshit. They use children as a means for nationalist bragging rights, they barely even have adult classes because 21 is like the peak of a gymnastic and their classes are expensive. Also it is hard to practice recreational gymnastics because the lack of guidance and equipment.

What I can recommend to anons here if they’re interested is call your local gymnastic facility and ask if they have open gym night. You can pay 10$ and use the gymnastic place for an hour or so. Loads of fun and tons to work on. Some places dont let adults in because they think you’re a pedo, but as long as you’re training you’re good.

I trained XMA for 10 years and I can’t stress the importance of flexibility alone. I’m in my early 30’s now and still can do pretty much everything because I built a strong base. Now I’m getting into rollerblading, fencing, etc to expand my horizons.

I tried that in the beginning, just to eat the same stuff but then I get bored of the food really fast and some stuff eaten plain is kinda hard to stomach. Maybe im just spoiled, i donno. Yeah i stopped strictly counting macros too, but doing dishes and cooking is the worst.

yeah i just stopped eating the maintenance calories i needed even lol. i just really dont like food, it always seems like a hassle to me, i rather just be doing something else. been skinny most my life so maybe my body is just used to the low appetite. I just dont see a point anymore, all that work for slightly bigger muscles. why bother, never been a chick magnet anyways big or small would need to fix my mug first lol. and i dont see the need for muscles for health or for myself, ive been fine doing everything i need without them

Words change. Did you know the word "man" used to be gender neutral in Middle English? Nowadays when you say "gymnastics" it usually refers to stuff that involves group training, an enclosed space to exercise in, and yes, equipment. I say I do a lot of calisthenics because I don't do anything in a gym.

I've been working out consistently and I lost 10 pounds in the past 2 months, just recently I put on 6 of those pounds back. I haven't added food to my diet (I eat around 1,100-1,500 a day since I'm sedentary for 95% of my day) and I do lifting at the gym, am I still missing something?
