I must add that I don't think diversity itself is the problem. I think it's when diversity is forced into something with no regard to setting or narrative that it becomes an issue (black people in Nazi Germany for example). There are still examples of good diversity like Overwatch or 40k or pre-2016 Marvel.

It's DEFINITELY because the creators came out as trans. I'd even go further and claim that the Wachowskis' claim that it was always about being trans is dubious because they said it AFTER being trans became trendy. Not saying their identities are illegitimate (Lilly came out as trans in 2008) but they were also saying that they certainly absolutely definitely will NOT make a new sequel… And they've made a new sequel.

Is this a thing?
