Practice makes perfect. Drawing improvement takes a lot of time and work. SO dedicate at least an hour to repeating basic shape drawing until a circle, square, cube etc. can be drawn casually.

Yeah, to be honest, I'd start with just drawing a basic human first. Or more importantly take the advice in >>2067 and master basic line and shape drawing before moving on to people and animals (by shifting people into shapes and transitioning. you also want to use a semi-hard to soft pencil like 2B or HB (or even H) and draw outlines like pic related before erasing extra lines and adding detail.

Where is the camera supposed to be positioned (what is its height) and what angle is it pointing in the Y-axis? If the camera view is angled parallel to the ground and its height is the torso of those skeletons, then you made the horizon too low and it should be around the torso, not their shins. If the camera view is supposed to be angled upwards (above parallel to the ground) then you made the skeletons too flat (not drawn in perspective projection, i.e., they dont look 3D).

I'm going to crit Wojak's gear choice.

>standing pad up by itself

Get a bookstand. You can prop up your tablet too.

>Loomis

I know nobody actually buys the books, but having gone through 5-6 authors I don't know why they are such a meme either. Figure Drawing for All It's Worth is not a gentle introduction, and Fun with a Pencil is too vague. Wojak should pirate Vilppu's Drawing Manual.

>Sandpaper block

>Expensive(?) pencils
>Putty eraser
All of these point towards mastering pencil rendering, but why get a tablet then?

This is reaching/projecting, but I feel like someone on /ic/ told Wojak not to draw anime, and he absorbed their screaming to preserve his self-esteem, but never managed to resolve the contradictions between his artistic goals and using a weirdly-sharpened pencil to do online life drawing sessions in his damp suburban bedroom. With that premise in mind,

>Sandpaper block

Holding his extremely sharp pencil sideways probably hurt Wojak's wrist, which is why he's crying.

>Putty eraser

It makes a hilarious noise and is good for autistically refining pencil shadows. You can also use it to lighten underdrawings, but you're better off buying a scan printer and doing it digitally. Anyway, given that he has a tablet, it might be best for him to focus on painting.

>Blind graphics tablet

This is demotivation incarnate. Save up for a real one.

Reposting from the GET /leftytrash/ thread concerning how light (shading) works:

When light hits a surface (from whatever source it emanates from) it cannot hit all of the surface of the object at once (at least not at full intensity like a torch or the sun).
The area of the object that isn't hit by the light forms a shadow, the colour and value of which is instead influenced by other, weaker light sources.
This is why white surfaces in anime often use a shaded by a tone of blue, because the weaker light that that is filtered by the blue atmosphere is that which fills the shadow created by the most powerful natural light source in any outdoor scene, that being the sun's light.
The transition between the light and shadow is either sharp or soft depending both on the surface of the object or intensity of the light.
On a sunny day or with a torch, you'll get sharp shadows whilst on rainy days or torches with an obscurer, they'll be soft.
Also, if an object has a flat face with sharp edges, like a cube, the difference between one face and another will be razor sharp whilst a round object, like boobs, will be softer and have move transitional shades from light to darkness.

This can get rather complex, but check out James Guerney's books and Alla Prima by Richard Schmitt. They'll get you on the right track.

It's fine to abandon the tablet for a while. Despite what I said about autism, I still think pencil and paper is the sword and board of drawing.

Even with a display tablet, I find there's this weird loss of feedback and context, and zooming in becomes a necessity rather than an option. And things start to look wonky when you lean into the paper.

>>2251
Okay, maybe Fun with a Pencil would be a good book. I don't know about chibis specficially, but the thing with these simple characters is to learn to place really basic 3d shapes in space.

Also look at the Made in Abyss manga. It's more loli/shota than chibi, but the highly simplified characters seem to pop out of the page.

I am practicing but it's still hard. Faces I draw look completely off and I can't quit place the features as forms yet, I have trouble figuring out how the forms will look.

The main problem now though is that I have trouble reading angles on pages. There are some pictures of heads where my mind is constantly jumping back and forth between then looking up and looking down, when the head is at a tilt.

Hopefully it will improve soon.

One thing that helped me a LOT with this was drawing skulls!
It helps you get the anatomy of the face right if you know where all the underlying parts are supposed to be. (Eye/nose sockets, the eyebrow ridge of the skull, how the teeth sit in the skull, etc) That should, in turn, help you with head angles, especially if you were to draw skulls at different angles too.

As for the other drawing, the fucked-up horse looks pretty decent. I like the ribs on that guy. For drawing characters from imagination, there's unfortunately no shortcut but studying. At this stage you'll want to learn to construct dudes out of cylinders and shit, make your characters have volume without adding any detail.

He wrote the most longwinded figure drawing book I can think of (Die Gestalt des Menschen).

It is still probably best book for learning anatomy from a construction drawing perspective, with very clear diagrams and insertion/origin tables for muscles. The book also has a lot of text, much of it useful (describing the purpose and mechanics of body parts) but also a ton of spicy hot takes about drawing.

I actually got the hard copy since I couldn't find the PDF in English (AFAIK there is one floating around in German). The first chapter looked cool as fuck before I could understand it, but it's mostly him describing his teaching methods, stressing the importance of a naturalistic/non-idealizing approach to anatomy, and alternately praising/shitting on other artists. It is still a fantastic book, though.

Draw from life as much as possible. It forces you to use more of your brain figuring out how to represent shapes, and it gives you an actual 3D reference where you can see the detail and complexity of the shapes.

Should have probably been clearer on what I was looking for and what my existing skillset is.

All of this is already general knowledge to me since I'm a graphics art student and shape/pose drawing and drawing from real life examples are like some of the first things we learned in class, I was looking info specifically related to drawing porn, how to actually make what I draw appeasing to the viewer's eye and avoid common mistakes that people make when trying to make lewd material etc. Just as an example, I recently found pic related on a subreddit about common anatomy mistakes and it helped enlighten me about how ridiculous a certain hentai trope relating to a woman's cervix actually is and how you should try to avoid it if you don't want to make any viewers with a grasp of how the female body works cringe.

The people drawing cervical penetration know that's not how it works, the same way that people drawing over the top inflation porn know that's not how it works. It's a goofy trope for fetish purposes. The problem is people not realizing that's what it is and thinking it's normal to "hit the back walls."

The thing you posted is shit and applies real world logic to fantasy. Drop it, it's nonsense; do whatever wacky bullshit your heart desires.
Instructional images/serials like that are almost always reductive and needlessly constraining. Read the lit or do a master study instead.

First off, two things:
There is no easy answer or method for what you are asking. There is no "do this to make something beautiful". You will have to figure that shit out as you go. This extends to my recommendations, or any reading on art. They contain techniques and methods, that are useful to achieve a result, but are not law.
Two, there is no "advanced" mechanical art theory. The baseline is the theory. However, that baseline is very, very broad and encompasses everything from anatomy, to colour theory, to material studies, and so on. What you have been introduced to is the extend of the playing field. Now you have to master it.

The only hard rule I can give you for smut is anatomy. Tons of it, even (especially) if you end up simplifying it. That is, you need a VISUAL memory of contours, which is given by bones, muscles, etc. The shit you have been thought.
Other than that a general knowledge of human anatomy (where organs are at, like you posted) is useful but not required. Cheating is always better if it is more efficient or more appealing.
Check out Michael Hamptons Figure Drawing - Design and Invention, and I can recommend Stephen Rogers Pecks Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist as a general reference. It's possible the former doesn't work for you, so note down Gottfried Bammes' The Artist's Guide to Human Anatomy and Michael D. Mattesi Force - Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators. I'd caution against Burne Hogarths writing on anatomy, though they're an interesting read if not very useful practically.

Also teach yourself animation if you haven't yet, as the understanding of motion it will give is invaluable. Fucking necessarily involves motion, and knowing how to make that look appealing is tantamount.
Take a look at Preston Blairs Cartoon Animation and Richard Williams The Animator's Survival Kit. Don Bluths The Art of Storyboard and Marcos Mateau-Mestres Framed Ink are more tangential, but still recommended, particularly if you end up making panels (which you will).

None of these will teach you how to make something beautiful. That is all you. Therefore draw, paint, and above all steal from works that appeal to you. Only you can add beauty to a work.

No nude models. Its more like at the start of the lesson (and this was during the first character design course, we're on our second one now) the teacher will do several poses and we have anywhere from thirty seconds to a full fifteen minutes to try and draw a sketch the best we can with a pencil and a paper notebook. Its supposed to be for training your eye to focus on getting the most important details right first when drawing a body. There was only like one time we had an actual model come visit and she didn't do any kind of nude poses. I'm not in like a dedicated art school or anything, its a university of applied sciences with my specific degree being one heavily focused on game graphics and how to make them. So, most of the reference we get is from the internet and by going outside to scribble stuff in a sketchbook and taking photos. Hopefully this sated your curiosity.

I agree with this recommendation. I studied from it for a few months while I was starting out. The simplifications did not click for me but were a good starting point. My anatomy ref was and still is Bammes' Complete Guide to Anatomy for Artists & Illustrators (the thick chungus one).

>3D Animation
>Game Testing
>3D Modelling and Texturing 2
>Project Studies 3 (in which I make 3D assets and animations for said assets, pics related. Me and one other guy are wholly responsible for all the 3D assets in the project with him making character models while I make environmental assets and weapon models, the other two artists in the project group make the 2D assets such as UI and textures with the remaining four members all being coders, including the producer. The end product is supposed to be an FPS where you defend your homestead from invading gnomes and other mythical creatures.)
I've learned to use 3DS Max, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, Blender(self-taught) in terms of tools during this time.

Hopefully this answered your question.

If you want into the smut business, beyond just drawing whatever your heart desires, get serious about modelling. It's a billion times easier to make 3D scenes than hand drawning 2D ones, and with a little bit of programming knowledge you can fill niches like the lewd life sim hole.

We should exchange info at some point. Busy for the foreseeable future, though.

Spot on! I've only started doing quick sketches a few months ago, which is admittedly really fucking dumb of me. I was never able to get the balance/dynamics right when working slowly, so as a crutch I'd do lots of cowboy shots and so on. I only got bored of it after like a year, so it's indeed possible to spend ages and ages in that kind of analytic rut.

One of the things I actually like drawing and modelling the most is guns and when specialization was mentioned during one of the lessons I was thinking of specializing in weapons (not that you can't make sexy art with weapons, girls and guns go together as well as bacon and jam)

Pic related is the second planned weapon for the player to carry in the game. Its still pretty heavily a work in progress since I haven't actually finished making the receiver or bolt yet and everything else still requires polishing (the stock is still very blocky, the sight has not been completely modeled yet etc.) and optimization. Our polycount limit is about 800 max per object and I've gone past that by about a 1000. It of course could be argued that since the player will be looking at their weapon quite a lot it should look nice but its gonna put a dent on performance on shittier PCs especially since I don't know if we'll even have any adjustable graphics settings in the release version. One easy place to optimize rn would be to not model the barrel separately and instead just make it an extrusion on both ends of the stock.

Cool beans! I don't know if this is still the case, but animators were hotly sought after ~4 years ago.
Loosely related: check out the Doom community if you haven't yet, particularly the zdoom forums and Realm667. They love that shit and the community at large is shockingly friendly. You can also dip your toe in video game programming through zscript, if you so desire.

So should I choose either or then? I kinda went with both because I wanted some things to be more pronounced than others but I guess that didn't really work out in the end.

You don't have to blur any lines like you do in your work.
Lines as an artistic technique are meant to abstract and simplify the point at which one form cuts out of another, no outline really exists in reality, it's prevalence it only due to it being a very base representation of how the mind processes visual information.

Unless you're doing it deliberately for effect such as implying depth of field or the speed of an object, it's unnecessary and makes you work look unnecessarily messy.

Also, I would personally recommend reducing the width of your lines if you want to go for a anime look.
The exact numbers don't matter, just try to match whatever you want your work to look like and work from there.

Last point; The most important thing I can recommend you do to improve your art now is to build experience with using the different parts of your arm.
In short, use your fingertips for tiny lines, your wrists for medium-scale lines and your whole arm for large, canvas-sized lines.
I don't have any further resources on hand, but you can probably find more stuff on this through searching for it online.
Just try to do some straight lines on a blank piece of paper or canvas using said parts of your arm for each respective length. That is what gives you 'clean' lines along with being able to construct your form in three-dimensions in your own head.

Good luck, stranger.

You can combine hard and soft lines fine. It's not an obstacle. The problem with pic related is misapplying them. Soft is transitions, where as hard is for edges. And even that isn't a hard rule and can be stretched to get inventive results.

>>2488
>Lines as an artistic technique are meant to abstract and simplify the point at which one form cuts out of another, no outline really exists in reality,
This wording comes from James Gurney if I remember correctly, who's otherwise very much worth engaging with, but here is talking nonsense. Not because the statement is technically wrong (indeed, contours exist only in perception), but because it is irrelevant to the creative process. Edges are a vital component to visual narration, and appear all over the place. Richard Schmid in Alla Prima gives more useful insight in lines, edges, and shapes.

Not to mention this assumes physical realism as desirable, which is controversial to say the least.

>Also, I would personally recommend reducing the width of your lines if you want to go for a anime look.

Moé, like any cartoon, is flexible. Line thickness is neither here nor there, as your own included image proves. It's an aesthetic judgement, best made by the artist individually.

>In short, use your fingertips for tiny lines, your wrists for medium-scale lines and your whole arm for large, canvas-sized lines. I don't have any further resources on hand, but you can probably find more stuff on this through searching for it online.

Using your entire arm is common advice for beginning students, so they learn to maximize the physical canvas and overcome meekness but I've never heard of this gradation though and on the face of it am hostile to it. Where did you get this?
It doesn't really matter here, though as in digital you only need your wrist and at most your upper arm.

Clean lines don't exist. Only straight and curved.

Lines litterally do not exist in real life. There is no line in the edge of a form, real life isn't like borderlands. There is only places where a form ends in space revealing another one behind it. Nowhere is there lines on edges of forms.

Lines are an abstraction created in our minds to represent objects.

>Lines litterally do not exist in real life
This isn't in contention and I affirmed it:
&ltcontours exist only in perception
It is, however, not relevant for the creative process. Physical realism doesn't result in figurative results, mimetic or otherwise. Your statement here:
>Lines are an abstraction created in our minds to represent objects.
Is also confused. Contours stem from perception, and they're not abstractions. They also don't represent objects, it doesn't mirror the thing, but are a result of light transitions. What you in painting would abstract to shapes (which can have lines).

>Nowhere is there lines on edges of forms.

With regards to the creative process this statement is absurd: contours are everywhere. Observe.
And this isn't even pointing towards monochromatic or cartoon works, where lines in all forms are ubiquitous. The placement of lines is a creative decision, not a law.

He and his wife had to flee when they heard the landlords call, But each other then they lost, then Nestor found the landlords house by fall, now he could live free of cost if he also stole from the mall

but then he saw trough a hole trough the floor his wife dressed as a whore, as she sold her body to the landlords will Nestor snapped, he was ready to kill

the horny pig saw a fire and felt pain in his back, Nestor will burn everything red till its ash black, he came from the floor so the pig would not breath anymore

What software did you use for this? If it's MS Paint, that's your first problem. Pirate Photoshop or download Krita: https://krita.org/en/ If you're a beginner you can't draw anything complex, much less a human form, without sketching the big forms first and putting a layer on top of that for line work. I'd recommend 3 layers, ideally: 1. Loosely sketch broad shapes with indications on where facial features and other details go, paying particular attention to the volume of the shapes, 2. Loosely sketch finer details, and 3. Final clean, precise line work.

This drawing itself doesn't look too bad honestly, I've seen MUCH worse. You at least have a sense of how the facial features sit on the skull. Just make sure that when you sketch out the big shapes like the sphere for the head, your guidelines should follow the contour of the shape. Does that make sense? I don't teach people art much. Here's an image that hopefully explains some of what I mean. I hope this helps! Please keep at it anon!

Depends on if you want to work in digital or analogue. Digital is nowadays most often used for comics and concept art ("video game art"). Don't do video game concept art professionally though, it'll suck your life force straight from your eye holes.
That is assuming you mean those neat sketches and scenes artists make before a video game goes into production. Asset production (textures) and technical art (UI, fx) are an entirely different ball game (though very much worth going into and might actually net you a job unlike the first two).

I don't know about critting gestures, these things are somewhat personal. Sometimes people with horrible scraggly gestures can pull a good illustration out of it.

Personally I like to play up the overlaps and anatomical asymmetry where possible (thigh goes forward, calf goes backward–the tibia is nearly straight but a lot of artists bank it deep, especially weebs). Having an asymmetrical limb design also takes some uncertainty out of the drawing and saves time (i.e. avoid negotiating the symmetrical "blob limb" where possible) but be sure to catch the taper at the joints.

One thing to try is imagining a rectangular cross section for your limbs, and doing the wrapping lines and connections accordingly. I get that from Ethan Becker screaming about cylinders on YouTube, but Vilppu's Drawing Manual has a chapter where he demonstrates this style.

Some artists on 4chan's /ic/ are bold enough to have a 8h a day drawing schedule but I find it incredibly tiring and soul crushing. To get real good in drawing you have to treat it seriously, it's very time consuming and you should treat it as getting a degree, you either go all in for years or you are doomed to be a hobbyist tier artist or a weeb, cuz weebs don't have to study anatomy and values (values in painting allow you to make realistic paintings while weebs can replace it with simple comicbook-like shading, like in this pic). Lots of famous weebs don't even bother to draw detailed hands, feet or muscular bodies, some, like Ilya Kuvshinov ( https://www.artstation.com/kuvshinov_ilya ), avoid full-body drawings alltogether and simply paint their flat generic animu girls 24/7

Do I know how realism works? Yes. Am I glad I spent as many hours as I did drawing still lifes and human forms? I guess it was fun. Is it relevant to the art I do now? Yeah, pretty frequently. Could I still make art that expressed what I want to express without having done all this realism work? Absolutely. Art is about expressing something, not just capturing a certain style or image. You gotta be able to get beyond studies in x y and z imo. The conceptual underpinnings to me are more important than any stylistic convention.

Is it bad that I wish there were an "art skill" level beside every poster's name here? You really never know whether people spouting this or that advice are capable of producing good art or not. They could just be talking straight out their ass with an overinflated ego.

I don't believe you can give truly good advice unless you're actually a good artist, especially the kind of broad sweeping statements being made here to beginners.

It was the same with /ic/. Posters would admonish one another for whatever reason and then they post their art and it looks like this.

Art skill =/= Understanding
Some of the best artists are poor at describing the correct techniques. Some of the most mediocre are great at teaching. It is very rare for someone to be both.

That's not post-modern you idiot, any artist of the past will say the same. The difference is whether the expression is done with talent or not. That's what makes modern art shit. It doesn't express anything on either technical or other levels but the "artists" claim it does

I can't agree with this. How on earth can you teach something you cannot do yourself? You wouldn't expect a university to hire a programming professor who couldn't code well, a music teacher who isn't a good musician, or a math teacher who couldn't do math well. Why is it suddenly a different standard for art? I simply can't take the advice of a mediocre artist seriously.
>That's not a terrible drawing for an initiate though
It's not a great drawing for someone who is giving advice to others. I would not take anything this person says seriously.

By people, do you mean the teachers or the students?
If it's the teachers you mean, I agree, but not for the reason you stated. I think it's because most art schools are just a giant scam to make money and they just hire whoever is willing to teach art.
There are plenty of good art teachers who are also good teachers, like on Schoolism for example, or people who were previously successful in the indistry and now do workshops like Steve Ahn. Those are the people who you should be taking art advice from.

>I don't believe you can give truly good advice unless you're actually a good artist, especially the kind of broad sweeping statements being made here to beginners.

I do not agree whatsoever. I am good at piano, trash at teaching it. Bad at math, but good at teaching it. Being able to teach something is not the same skill as being good at that thing. It has more to do with conceptual understanding and patience then it does with skill level.

Most people in the academia are not that good programmers. They are hired for doing research, not for producing code to be put in museums.

What makes a musician? They could be teaching theory, history, songwriting, etc. just fine without ever touching an instrument.
> or a math teacher who couldn't do math well.
Again, they are mostly hired to do research in their narrow field, but might be tasked to teach an introductory course in another field that they might not be that good. Maths is incredibly complex and I am sceptical of how much transfer is there at this level.

Okay, so since i got depressed and stopped drawing again, i wanted to get back into by doing something easy. An apple seemed easy enough. Well, this is how far i got. I am now again at the breaking point for me. I want to do shading and putting highlights etc. to make it look more interesting, put down more details to make it look like an apple i'd want to bite into. Not drops of water or anything too fancy, but some reflection and little spots etc.
However, i have no idea where to even begin with the next step. I watched some shading tutorial by born-to-die but somehow it doesn't click. I don't really understand what he's doing. And when i make attempts the apple looks shit. No idea what brush to pick, no idea if i can set highlights with just going with low density and painting white over parts…
it just looks weird and even if that were the first step, i just have no orientation where to go with it.
Sorry for the rant.
Question is: How to make appel look better for dumbfucks that can't into studying too hard?

everyone's so big on being able to draw properly, like being able to actually be a viable artist. i'd settle for being a marginally better artist than literal children, but while i could probably beat them in some technical ways (hey, i can draw a cube. usually.) they draw a dog and you think "cute dog with disproportionate legs and no perspective", i draw a dog and you go "is it a horse drawn by a man who lost his arms in a threshing machine accident?"

this wasn't supposed to be a depressing blogpost btw. i guess i'm angling for ways to suck less at symbolic drawing? most art advice is for people with higher aims than mine. for people who have a real need to draw, rather than just wanting to have the same fun doodling that they did as a child.

I think people usually recommend this book "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" for training someone to be a better observer and thus better at symbolic drawing. I uploaded it for you here: https://mega.nz/file/fIhVWKjI#pYv8xrKgJQW5CHTCAoLWRUUv8iNOK8af0-jmH3BKjb0
I've read excerpts from it and the methods used seem like they can help you with what you want.

I've also read of a good and interesting exercise that's similar to those methods and may help you:
1. Draw a shrimp. A shrimp, because, most people do not know how to draw one outright, but everyone has seen them. You are forbidden from looking at any reference images of shrimps at this step.
2. Google shrimp pics, trace one or two.
3. Copy some shrimp pics directly without tracing.
4. Using those same pics as reference, use them to draw the shrimp in a different pose or angle.
5. Draw a shrimp again, without any reference. Compare to your original drawing, and as you repeat this process with different subject matters, you will learn where you tend to make incorrect assumptions about reality, so you can watch out for those assumptions when drawing other things.
It's like an exercise to learn how your own, individual artistic mind works.

Grinding. I don't have much to brag about, I really want to start drawing for money but I have to improve my painting skills but I experience immense fear whenever I start painting with colors. Plus trying to imitate oil paintings while working without references is incredibly hard and fear paralyzes me… The only good paintings I have were done with references and God knows how much time I will spend trying to learn how to paint properly. The 3rd pic was one of the last unfinished paintings without refs and it along with some other unpleasant events broke my will.

I like it. Some criticism though is to work on your symbol drawing especially for the eyes. I think you're drawing what you think you see rather than what you actually see. Learning the anatomy of the eye(and the skull in general) would help, but best thing to do is slow down and analyze what youre drawing.
A popular exercise for improving observation is to draw pic related upside down. As you draw try to avoid thinking about drawing the arm or drawing the eye. Instead think about the lines, angles, and shapes of the drawing.

I also colored it using ONLY lasso and gradient tool, which is a bit surprising for me, I did not know you can make coloring this good and fast with simple gradients. It was the most useful day of my life because I also learned how to make the character's full white eyes shine and I now know that with Gaussian blur the quality of your line art will reach the heavens.

Unfortunately, I spent a lot of effort on this and the previous drawing but the result was… lackluster. I used DeviantArt, Tumblr, Pixiv, Twitter, Instagram and tons of tags on each platform, it didn't attract me many likes nor followers. It's depressing when you waste hours drawing something, it brings you 2-3 likes (not even retweets or followers) and then you look up at the weaker artists getting lots of attention.

That's only going to be useful for symmetrical characters holding a symmetrical pose, and it's going to do nothing but slow your development, as only (perfect) practice makes perfect better. Using copy pasted stuff as place holder or reference is one thing. Perhaps for highly repetitive details, but it's certainly not good practice for learning how to draw a human, even if you're going for a really abstract cartoon/anime look.

cont.
Also, it tends to look particularly unnatural if a person is drawn100% symmetrical. There's a sort golden ratio for human symmetry that's between an AI's inhuman idea of the perfect man, and a character bordering on deformed. But don't give up, or think that it's your own inability to draw well, because it takes most people years before they can draw a person convincingly. Have you ever thought of how complex the human body is? The face, even when simplified, has hundreds of different planes in a subtle but confusing arrangement. Drawing a hand, is almost like having to draw half of spider. We have bendy back bones that can twist and lean and scrunch up, and when unclothed our muscles aren't hidden by scruffy hair, but the bodily mechanics fully visible to an observer. Add to this the fact that we are probably more familiar with the human body than just about anything else (due to having to live within one) so we are more likely to spot something that is off, than we would with a drawing of something less familiar. But thankfully, where ever you go, you bring a model along with you, that being yourself. The hand and face are complicated, but you only have to look infront of you, or in a mirror, to practice the two most complicated parts of the body. Also check out a few youtube tutorials. Ethan Becker has great fundamentals in a funny (to me at least) and bite sized format, Proko is a good one for more detailed instruction at an intermediate/advanced level, and The Drawing Database has all your artisto autismo needs covered in excruciating detail.

Made something. It was a request, and I'm not a fan of requests. Years ago, I was eager to complete all the requests in the art threads, but over time I realized how poorly people asking for requests appreciate the time of artists. Are you ready to spend a few hours chopping wood /making soup for a stranger? I got the feeling that many people who request something treat their own requests as if they themselves don't really need it, and they just """help""" artists with their ideas. As result, I came to the conclusion that commissions reflect interest much better than requests. If a person needs something so much that he already wants to pay, then certainly this is not an ordinary desire to get free stuff just because you can. The fulfillment of requests helps to create a mentality where drawings are worthless, like the time of the enslaved artists.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but most art autists consider realism to be peak art? I constantly see professionals whining about amateurs bringing down the salaries and quality level in the field for everyone.
>>

 No.9046

>>9045
Oversupply causes competing workers to dump their salaries, same process as in every other commodity production. Maybe in the furry scene novice artists charging pennies ruffles some feathers, but the established and top notch artists aren't really affected by that because people commissioning them know what they're looking for.
>>

 No.9051

>>9045
No, most digital artists work in semi-realism, like Ilya Kuvshinov, Ruan Jia or Sakimichan, because pure realism is not only rarely cute (the most important factor in appealling to wide demographics) but is also very hard to learn and produce.
>amateurs bringing down the salaries and quality level in the field for everyone.
Amateurs don't bring down the prices on works of people above them, you need skills to compete with professionals. 3rd worlders do, whether they are pro or not, because they have lower costs of living and don't need to earn as much to survive, thus they can dump prices in an attempt to gain greater share of the market (more commissions). In the end, it works exactly like perfect free market does: the uncompetetive suppliers (artists from rich countries) can't charge more than 3rd world artists and they can't survive doing art unless they are really good, thus they are forced out of business and have to find a real life job. It could sound cruel but in fact it is absolutely just because it benefits the most productive agents (3rd world artists who produce as much the 1st world but consume much less) and it benefits the consumers. In art there's no possible monopoly artifically restricting competition, the uncompetitive and unproductive artists are punished by free market without intervention from 3rd side.
>>

 No.9053

>>9051
But if the first world artists aren't producing less and lesser quality but merely have a higher cost of living, then how is it fair? It's 'just' the same as outsorcing other industries' jobs, for the same reasons. Economic imperialism. And cute is not the only quality that is sought for in art.
>>

 No.9054

>>9053
It is fair because the first world artists produce the goods of the same quality as 3rd world artists, while consuming more goods than them (which is reflected in the quality of living, the costs of living and the high purchasing power of the average 1st world citizen). You don't provide more valuable goods by mere fact you were born in the US. Would you support an American factory that requires input of 300t a steel a month just to produce 100 cars, while a foreign factory produces the same amount of cars but requires input no more than only 100 tons of steel?
>It's 'just' the same as outsorcing other industries' jobs, for the same reasons.
Yes, it is the same. And it is good, this outsourscing kills uncompetetive jobs. You want 1st world artists to consume more simply by the right of blood, not because they actually can produce something valuable. There's no exploitation in art, no boss to take your surplus value, everything goes to the workers. You are not entitled to earn $2000 simply because you were born in the US, you have to produce goods worth $2000 and in art the goods are cheap because the market is working really well, the free trade flourishes and there are very comfortable conditions for high skill specialization in programming, translation of art for 3rd worlders, unlike the real world market where we have tariffs, costs or transportation, monopolies and various restrictions distorting the market, thus making goods from other countries less competitive.
>>

 No.9055

>>9054
I live in one of those third world countries, in fact. One of those that produces most artists. Comparing artists to factories is obscene, what is the input exactly, food? What data do you have that third world artists eat less than first world, somehow I do not think human calorie needs differ from country to country. But if we put it this way, there are two inputs, first is mental,- life experience, nature and surroundings impressions, consumed media, and imagination, subconciousness working to transmute it all together into something new. Second is material, in case of tactile media artists it's paints, pencils, chalk, canvas, paper; in case of digital media artists it's whatever their input devices and electricity to make them run,- so those are the means of production. And between any two comparable artists, those are exactly or almost exactly the same, no matter the world. Exploitation is unjust no matter which way you turn it. And the benefit of the customers gained this way is also unjust. Paying rates firstworlders would starve for to third world artists is as unjust as paying third world factory workers comparably. And it does not constitute to better art.

I live in Ukraine, which is poorer than any North African country and economically closer to India than Romania or Russia.
> Comparing artists to factories is obscene, what is the input exactly, food?
Goods. Any goods. You don't spend your salary on food only, do you? When the American workers were pissed off about the factory jobs going away to East Asia, they weren't crying about lack of food, because the food insecurity is not a problem in rich countries and even in poor countries it's not widespread, unless you are from Africa. If the American workers were concerned with food security only, they wouldn't need higher purchasing power, they would be satisfied with basic jobs in service sectors, but they are greedy, just like the people from 3rd world countries, they want to afford an apartment in one of the most popular countries in the world, they want food that went through countless production quality inspections, they want cars, phones, Internet, electronics, clothes, etc. Average American consumes a lot and doesn't notice that because he is used to it, he lives in the prosperous society where a Black low class worker in declining detroit has higher purchasing power than an average Ukrainian factory worker, when an individual fulfills his food requirements he doesn't settle on that, he wants more. So, why an American greedy bastard should get more by the fact of his existence, if another greedy bastard does the same and consumes less?.
>Exploitation is unjust no matter which way you turn it. And the benefit of the customers gained this way is also unjust. Paying rates firstworlders would starve for to third world artists is as unjust as paying third world factory workers comparably. And it does not constitute to better art.
There's no exploitation in paying free market prices, the price is not determined by monopolistic forces limiting your options but by the input costs multiplied by demand. By your logic, if only I could move to the US, I would automatically acquire a right to charge $100 for my work. So, I am, indeed, entitled to X amount of goods depending on the place where I was born? You propose to establish a restriction that would overhelmingly benefit the 1st world artists and harm the productive workers from poorer countries offering the same services?
Justice is when you produce as much as you consume. The American artists don't produce as much as they want to consume, they want to consume as much as an average 1st worlder does but they can't produce that amount because for once they have to face perfectly free market competition where 3rd worlds get comparative advantage. Consuming more because you were born in the US is not "just", we would face the same field leveling in the real world if only markets were working there as good as they do in the web.

>Justice is when you produce as much as you consume.
An american workers do not? Labor productivity is at an all time high, it's massive, yet no rise in wages anywhere reflected that. And what is the exchange rate of art to physical goods exactly? How do you determine that? Producing as much art (a good with a highly variable value for which lvt simply cannot be applied as is) as much as physical goods you want to consume is nonsensical. That theory, which also stated that under capitalism and the free market no productive workers ANYWHERE receive in compensation as much as they produce, not even nearly. And which also happens one of the main grievances of communists. Я из России в свою очередь. Жаль за то что случилось с вами после 2014. Hey thats pretty good. The rocks beneath the guy shows a great understanding of perspective, what i would do differently is the following.
An obvious area where you can see is in the back of the lion. The way you applied the brushstrokes horizontally flattens the dimensionality of it, since the stripes of the colour add to its implied form. I would try to apply your colouring in a way such that the pattern created by the strokes follows and emphasizes the volume of it.

Adding a bit of the shadow linework that you have on the arms and legs of the man to the lion, specifically the underbelly, would also greatly enhance its volume, rather than leaving it as a flat coloured field. Doing this would also lessen the impact of the strokes of the colouring strokes i talked about above.

So hey lads, kind off an artfag here. I've been trying to draw portraits and full bodies and shit, I've uploaded some of my work. What do you think of it?
To be honest I think sometimes the expressions I make are kinda weird, and I also need to practice more shadowing and probably proportions. But what do you think other drawing enthusiasts?

Marx portrait is great and your expressions are not bad at all (I am shit at faces so maybe not the best judge.)

The middle female portrait could use some work on the outside shape of the hair. Easiest way to fix it for now would be to flip the drawing in Photoshop and muck about with the liquify tool, try to make it flow as best you can.

You are going to need to study basic (the ankle bone connects to the leg bone…) anatomy for your full bodies. e.g. the tiddie definitely does not run up to the neck like that. Tiddies are the fat of the pectoral muscle and that stops at the clavicle.

Hiroyuki Mitsume Takahashi draws everything with vector graphics and a mouse, but he also seems to have more than one form of autism. If that's not your style, it's easy to drop simple colors and corrections on a scanned drawing without even touching a tablet.

3DCG is also usually done with a mouse, but that's probably not what you want.

I know you've finished this already but I wanted to tell you that I can't see her face lmao
Use some lighting on her skin in the shape of fine lines and also some intermediate shades elsewhere I guess (which only have to be light enough to be able to see the lines), otherwise it's difficult to look at because you can't tell the shapes on her body apart. I think the dark color you're using right now should be used for shadows, which is sometimes necessary for things that are actually that dark, such as super-dark skin and hair and black clothes. In real life, you can still distinguish between the features of people with the darkest skin due to natural lighting, so look at photos for reference.

Her index finger looks a bit longer than the middle finger, it should be shortened. Maybe her head is also too small or her chin/jawline should be lower (I can't tell using this unfinished version but I noticed in the final pic), or it could be the choker (too high up on the neck in my opinion) that makes it look weird.

>>10147
Did you use a website to colorize this?

>>10013
>Step 1: sketch on paper
>Step 2: scan
>Step 3: trace over sketch with vector lines
Or:
&ltStep 1: do the line art on paper
&ltStep 2: scan and adjust
&ltStep 3: vectorize or touch up and color
With both options you can apply all kinds of effects to your lines and colors that you could easily achieve with just a stroke on your tablet, but it takes 1000 times as long.

Alternatively, become a pixel artist (really good option in my opinion. Pixels and animated sprites are the coolest shit ever and you don't necessarily have to stick to small sprites; pixel artists who draw large pictures are rare from what I've seen.)

>>9957
>To be honest I think sometimes the expressions I make are kinda weird
I wouldn't say it's the expressions (in fact I like your preference for that kind of "serious" lips), just the basic proportions of the faces you draw. for example, in your original artworks the space between the nose and mouth is too big, even more than the space between the mouth and chin, and that's probably because you like to detail the philtrum. Try shortening it next time. Also, pay attention at what point the nose becomes narrower. As the other anon said, you need to work on the hair, because in the second picture a bad hair shape (not just outer) is a bad frame for the face.

> 3rd worlders do, whether they are pro or not, because they have lower costs of living and don't need to earn as much to survive
that's why as a 3rd worlder I exploit rich Americans by charging the same amount in dollars as an American artist of my skill level would. 50 dollars become 1000 pesos.

But in all seriousness,
>>9045
I think amateur artists actually tend to undervalue their own work. They also generally think that charging less will get them more clients.

Realism is, of course, one of the most difficult things to learn when it comes to art. Naturally many non-artists also consider it to be the highest form of art (why? there's cameras and editing software for that), while "serious" artists consider it a skill that proves that you're a "real" artist (so you don't necessarily have to do realism exclusively, but being able to draw it means you're good in their eyes). And to be honest it also influences your understanding of shapes, allowing you to better portray what's in your mind close to how you picture it (obviously most of the time we imagine things based on reality, unless we explicitly try to come up with something that is not, in which case you don't need to understand how to depict the real world), so I'd say there's some validity to that mentality.

>>9051
>No, most digital artists work in semi-realism, like Ilya Kuvshinov, Ruan Jia or Sakimichan, because pure realism is not only rarely cute (the most important factor in appealling to wide demographics) but is also very hard to learn and produce.
The fact that that's the most popular and profitable type of art doesn't mean that it's what's considered "peak art" by artists.

The condition was I equip them with any gear because they don't want "their prints" on them.

I'm aware of fire extinguishers (though water ones are hard to find where I am, and they too big anyway), paint bombs made from light globes, and something called a mop?

What else can I give them to aid in the effort?

Sure, I wish you all the best, just thought it foolhardy to quit a dayjob at this level. That said, I suggest checking out content on New Masters Academy, there's some good stuff on CGPeers from there. In particular, "Complete russian academic drawing approach" and "Renaissance figure drawing", I think you could benefit from observing more classical approaches. And also, those artists' relative success has likely little to do with their skill level.

I like the design (including the palette), and the face, but you gotta work on your shading, it's too soft IMO. Remember the direction of light at all times, and stick more to the drawing like for example, the shading on the left shoulder strap is inconsistent with the shape of that piece. What you were doing with the hair at 3:11 was pretty good, but the thing you did afterwards left the shading on the hair feeling flat and inconsistent with the shading style on the clothes which has more detail (maybe you got frustrated? I know that feel). I also think you gotta work a bit more on the folds and creases on clothes, but you seem to be getting the hang of it.

A little tip: for symmetrical things such as badges, if your software has the feature, you can use a symmetry/mirror/kaleidoscope ruler divided into more than 2 parts. Here's some tutorial I found for Clip Studio Paint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOX5xXdJVH4

Live2D doesn't support graphic effects, Cyrillic script (it changes any Cyrillic text into the "#`141%$" runes), you can't change the language in menu and I was very disatisfied with the gif conversion which produced EXTREMELY heavy gifs and was freezing my laptop in the process. I learned Adobe After Effects but my laptop is so 10 years old and it was medicore even back then, rendering takes me hours because of that. I produced some gifs that took me LOTS of time but didn't attract much attention on media, I received 0 commissions and a guy that pretended to be my first commissioner scammed me for a free sketch… I wanted to be a good guy and charge only AFTER he approves of the sketch, unlike other artists who charge upfront, but being exploited for my kindness is very unpleasant. Later I saw him on 4chan's /aco/ acknolwedging that he scammed me and saying that I have unique and interesting style.

I need money now and I don't have much time left to improve my skills, so I try to go into furry in hope that I will acquire commissions. PayPal also doesn't work in Ukraine, which adds me more headache and insecurity about my own future. I started doing frame-by-frame animation because gifs like that can be produced by me within a single day while the painted works were taking a week or more and brought me around 10 likes each, with the Beatrice and Lambdadelta being only exceptions. I did 5 animated colored gifs and only 2 of them succeed while 3 backfired and didn't bring any followers.I don't want to spend a week of my life creating a drawing that brings less than 10 likes, 0 retweets and 0 commissions, I don't have a family to bankroll me and I need to earn money (which I can't earn in improverished Ukraine) to visit my gf living in a neighbouring country.

This is the furry stuff I tried to do. After it failed, I tried to adapt and find a way to produce decent looking works that don't take multiple days. I decided to go into frame-by-frame gifs without coloring (earlier I was using special animation program instead of frame-by-frame animation) because ironically frame by-frame animation takes me less time than my painted works that you see in my posts. The "good boy" gif was my first frame-by-frame animation I have ever done and the "killjoy" was the second and the last one. Each took me only a day to produce while Beatrice took 9 days and genderbend Zagreus (3rd gif, the girl with a sword) took around the same and didn't bring any attention.

>After it failed
I was just about to ask if you've tried uploading your stuff to e621. It looks like someone else already posted your gif, and it's quite popular. (I'm assuming you weren't the one who posted it, since I thought that you considered that it failed because it didn't get any traction on Twitter. Also you can't see who's the uploader, I think)
https://e621.net/posts/2596105?q=kapchynskyi

I'd say use this to your advantage, make an account and start posting your new animations there. You'll probably get some commissions faster that way. Twitter is pretty shit for art promotion (any social media is, imo) especially if you're new and have no followers. But on a booru site, and especially a furry booru, where people can quickly find the exact content that gets them off thanks to a complex tagging system, and art is neatly organized per character, it's much easier to get a big audience and find potential clients, even when nobody knows about you. After all, you get much more visibility on a specialized art site used daily by that specific and massive fanbase, than on a social media platform used for all kinds of random purposes.

I'd suggest ditching Twitter altogether at least for furry porn, although if it doesn't take you much effort you can keep updating both platforms (you could still gain a following there as do many porn and SFW artists). Personally I'm not a furry but once in a blue moon I'll go to e621 to fap to some animations, so I'm a bit familiar with the site. Many artists themselves post their stuff on there and many of their works are commissions. If you search the "conditional_dnp" tag you'll find examples of artists or commissioners who post their own stuff. With your output and high artistic skill, and with animations that are a little bit more finished than this one (what matters in animated porn is the smoothness after all), you could become popular.

Hm, thanks, what a pleasant surprise! I didn't upload it. I guess there's some demand for that kind of gif, I will go back to producing them. I have some ideas on how to make them look better, I can put more effort now. That furry gif was only a slideshow to test how frame-by-frame works in Clip Studio Paint.

My first "commission" I ever did was from /aco/, a dude asked me to draw his OC. I wanted to be a good guy and drew him a sketch before charging him money, so he ended up scamming me by approving the sketch, giving me a greenlight and then simply ghosting me. My mistake was saying in the 1st post that I am a noob, he took advantage of that and correctly guessed that I won't charge money before doing sketch. He never intended to pay, of course. The 1st pic is the sketch I did for him.

The 2nd mp4 brought me 350 retweets. Unfortunately some people were turned off and didn't follow me because my feed is full of me doing stuff for various fandoms, furry including, so I didn't benefit much from a blow up. Lesson learned, I change artstyle and topics too often, it's hard to predict what will I produce. It's a pity because on one hand I want money and audience but for money you need lewd furries while for big audience you need memey-SFW art.

Have you tried having several specialized accounts for differents artstyles/ subjects?
Because i recall some videasts doing that when they try something that strays a lot frtheir original concepts, because the people who watch them "expect" a certain concept from the channel they subscribed to. Kinda like you come to a fruits store then all of a suden it became a delicatessen. Consequence of commodification of art and the like i guess.

It would make gaining followers extremely hard. You can't post often enough on each profile to gain decent following. I've only got the prologue and first chapter into the initial draft phase so various images are placeholders and some stanzas will definitely be replaced/improved. I'm more curious in overall reactions and thoughts rather than specific critiques.

I agree with you a lot about not having the patience. A lot of the vector stuff I do is originally done in pencil drawings.

For example the spaceman re-entry one I passed it through a gaussian blur and oilify filter (waterpixels is also a good filter for this) in gimp then used Inkscape's trace bitmap feature and then a lot of manual clean up of the nodes.

For the woman with a basket of wires I just manually traced it out in Inkscape myself from the drawing I did originally.

The spaceman pulled back one is a frame from a little animation I made in blender with a custom plugin I made for the grease pencil cloth sim. It is one of the few things originally done with vectors but in blender instead of inkscape (which I couldn't export as svg so I used the bitmap trace feature again).

Inkscape does a lot of things to make it easier but I still find it hard to make something good from nothing in it.

It did get better, right now I have a $120 commission waiting for me, some girl wants her bunny boy drawn like my old portrait of Beatrice >>14092. It's not free money though, this amount of detail takes a lot of effort and time, I think it will take a week to finish her boy. I am happy because Art Nouveau my favorite style and I had to abandon it because the amount of effort per likes/retweets was unfavorable to me, plus people would rather commission porn than detailed SFW illustrations.

I also started working on a sticker of Legosi from Beastars for a Telegram competition but had to abandon it due to technical problems with Telegram

I also finished another $25 commission (1st pic) and got a $88 order for 1 second of animation a the main character of Liza: The Joyful sucking mean dick. Things look increasingly good for me because now I earn above Ukrainian minimum wage.
The last 3 pics are the sketches for my $120 commission.

I don't like all this superficial economy and the content generating media whores like me. Instead of focusing on real life needs, lots of money are fueled into entirely useless projects. Does humanity benefit from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube? It doesn't, and yet lots of useless media leeches, artists including, profit from it. We don't need another YouTube star or Instawhore, yet digital goods take ever increasing share of the world's economy while such things as malaria, malnutrition and countless diseases remain alive and well. The surplus value the world generates is spent on maintaining those useless Web apps, programmers and countless other digital professions instead.

From Twitter:

I've worked on comics a long time. Here's some tips:

Never design anything you're not willing to draw a hundred more times.

Word balloon placement is more important than drawing skills.

Not every panel needs a background.

Characters speaking in a panel mouths should be open. When you sketch layout your page, include your dialog and sound fx.

People really do notice if you copy and paste your panels.

Color comics sell better.

Your panel borders should be obvious.

Do your best to place characters in a panel into the order that they are speaking.Use dynamic perspective to heighten drama of a panel. Leave it out if a panel doesn't need it.

Word balloon tails should point at the mouths of the speaker.

If you don't need dynamic panel shapes, don't use them. Prioritize being able to read the page clearly.

Clarity is key.If you flip your canvas a lot, mark which arms are right and left.

People appreciate their favorite character in a crowd shot, preferably doing something unique to them. But don't overload on crowd shots. Every crowd or group scene increases your workload a hundred times over.

Also getting words to fit neatly in a speech balloon with just the right amount of space around the words is a subtle magic.

Also words on a comic page always seem to take up like, 5 times more space than I think they will.

>Fortunately there is an elegant method of achieving a more accurate Value analysis with only two keys, CTRL+Y, (the shortcut for Proof Colors). If you've tried it just now, chances are your image has shifted into the default CYMK colorspace and if you're like me you may have accidentally activated this shortcut in the past instead of Ctrl+T (Transform) and understandably been annoyed at the result. Once you've set up this tool as instructed below you'll find this annoying slip is your new, if sometimes unexpected, ally.

Good study. Never understood how the hell you are supposed to paint hair.

$250, it's quite good given that average monthly wage in Ukraine is $400 a month and if I keep drawing I can surpass that mark. Certainly much less stress than on normal job. This Artemis line art commission with basic flat colour brought me $45 for example and I have 3 other sketch commissions in queue, $25 each one or $75 in total. I come from an underclass family and both of my parents are unemployed, so what I am getting right now is very good. It would be very hard to survive for my family if it weren't for me. I also regularly buy gifts for 72yo mom of my stepdad, she is living in crushing poverty just like us but she also has to work to support the brother of my stepdad, a 49yo unemployed drunkard. The grandma didn't eat ice cream and chocolate for half a year. I feel embarrassed that a 72yo woman is working to support her family while my useless whore of a mother spent last 7 years being a couch potato, watching TV, drinking and smocking 24/7. If it weren't for mom, we wouldn't be in deep debt. Thankfully the times are changing now.

Hey all!

Just wanted to check in and say i'm proud of everyone here who has committed themselves to improving their art and achieving whatever goals they set for themselves.

And for everyone who thinks they aren't good enough and can't make it to be both making work they like and making money off of it, I don't think I can either!
Every single day I question my ability and am unsure of myself in everything I do, but I keep doing it despite the doubt, and i'm here now; making art I like and making some money off of it. So, if you feel this stuff is what you want to do, just keep going, be conscious of your flaws and work through them with your head and your hands.
It took me about 5 years of dedicated study and practice to get to where I was when I started posting art on GET and leftypol, this stuff isn't easy or quick, so don't sweat it!

Also, shoutouts to this anon in particular >>16038 , your doing great and making the best out of a bad situation!

Hey art-twinks;

USE COLOR GAMUTS!

They are a great way of making sure your colors look good without too much worrying!

It's basically just a 'mask' you put over your color wheel that blocks out most of the colors and forces you to pick from a small selection. This helps your colors tight and your choices deliberate.

The technique was formalised by James Gurney, who's books are absolutely brilliant guides for realistic painters and drawers (anime artists too).

Krita already has them built in if you enable the docker in the setting tab!

If you're worried about relying on it as a crutch, don't worry, these are more like training wheels to get you to think about using colors in a way that you're not used to but makes for more interesting colors overall.

When you've internalized this you'll find that you are much more bold in your colors than you were before, and you can start to experiment with weird combinations and start to have real fun while not having to worry about screwing up.

Also here's a grass tutorial I found.

I was surprised to discover by pure accident such a high quality painting of Stalin and the Politburo members during during field maneuvres, early Soviet art realism didn't have many high quality artists. I felt warmth in my chest when I recognised the name of the painter, Dmitry Kardovsky. I remember seeing his pre-Revolution works, he was 51 years old by the time of the October revolution and I didn't expect to see him painting for the Soviet regime, thinking he would resent the government that brought him poverty and stripped his primary clients of wealth. Maybe he indeed hated the USSR but was forced by circumstances to paint on revolutionary topics. Anyway, his skill is amazing and the only early Soviet artist of comparable level I know is Isaak Brodsky, here you can see his portrait of Mikhail Frunze, a Soviet hero and one of the Red commanders that fought in the Russian civil war.

In the 3rd picture you can see Olga Kardovskaya's (Kadrovsky's wife) portrait of an extremely popular Russian poetess, young Russian women especially adore her. I didn't read Akhmatova but I hate her for her sluttish personal life.

My last art commission in the 4th pic. Personally I am doing fine. Last two months let me earn some decent money (by Ukrainian standards), my parents didn't receive a penny from their work yet and I have been feeding my mom, my stepdad and myself for two months + buying gifts for grandma. Unfortunately people mostly commission me NSFW stuff or original characters whom I can't post on my Twitter, so my follower count is stagnating and followers are important if you want to increase supply of commissions and prices on your artworks. I have to decide between doing NSFW stuff that doesn't attract people to me or drawing stuff I need for the public for free.
I hope my parents will start earning money soon because I need money for a laptop, the current one is 10 years old, plus I need to work on attracting people on Twitter.

I'm afraid to post my art online (even more terrified to do streams) because I'm not that good and I know that I'll be judged for my shitty skills.

The obvious solution is to draw without posting it, but over the years I've convinced myself that I must show it to the whole world to gain followers (of which I currently have around 10) to build an audience that could commission me and to feel satisfied with my own art. Because if it's not good enough to put online, I don't like it.

And since I'm not good enough to show people what I really feel like drawing at the moment, I don't draw at all, and my skill stagnates or worsens.

How the fuck do I get out of this vicious circle?

Draw muscular leftypol fucking /pol/face's mom in his room. His room should have anime pictures on the wall and a transhumanist dildo, it should also be very recognizable to be /pol/'s room. le /pol/face should have a thought bubble left to his head (from his position) saying something like "fuck you /transhumanistpol/ or something else. Doesn't matter, he should be mad. I recommend you just draw it and add le /pol/face into it and the leftypol logo onto /leftypol/'s upper body. His mom should be saying something like "you shouldn't be home yet" or something like that. She should be suprised. You can visit OC threads on 4chan. Plenty of people there make requests of their favorite characters and they are euphoric about anything you produce, even noobs. Also, I don't recommend to hope for followers unless you achieve admirable skills or you are friends with popular artists who can retweet you. At first it's better to focus in improvement.

>Should I draw the panel separetly and then put them all together
I'm trying to draw a short comic myself, but everywhere I look for info basically says that planning and laying out your comic's pages is the first step.
You should lay out the page with the events you want to happen in that page in mind. And then, you should draw the content of the panels while thinking about the layout. Or you can draw the content of the panels while laying out the page. In any case, you don't draw your panels separately and then put them together.
Here are some links about page layout:

Oh yeah, those OC threads on /i/, right? I was there a couple of months ago just to get familiar with those threads and the board, and they seem to be prone to Discord drama. But it sounds like a good idea nonetheless, as long as I don't get involved. I was also thinking of drawing very niche porn for a certain audience on another board (not just because I want commissions but because I like that stuff as well). I have a lot of ideas for that and some are halfway done, but my bad habits prevent me from actually working on them.
Anyway, thank you for your reply and advice, Kapchynskyi ;_; idk what else to call you lol

Depends on what you mean by "good computer".
But my answer would be no, it doesn't matter if it's low-end, as long as it's somewhat fast and you have enough remaining drive space to store your art, it shouldn't be a problem. There are several relatively lightweight art programs. You don't need Photoshop, Illustrator or Clip Studio Paint, or even Krita to be good at digital art. What you might want to have is a drawing tablet, though (it makes digital drawing miles easier imo).

Well, Wacom is good if you're looking for a beginner tablet. Their most basic ones are reasonably priced imo.

I used to have a Wacom Bamboo, after it broke (worked for about 4-5 years) I bought a small Wacom Intuos that I'm still using after about 3 years, and it still works great, no issues at all so far; it cost the equivalent of about 100 US dollars. I was actually recommended to buy a medium sized one to avoid carpal tunnel syndrome and to be more comfortable, but I forgot about that at the moment of purchasing; still, I've gotten used to it.

I've never been able to afford a tablet with a screen. I've heard that Huion display tablets are pretty good (IDK about other brands), and cheaper than the Wacom Cintiq, but I don't know which one lasts longer. I wouldn't worry too much about having 10000+ pen pressure sensitivity levels though, it's not important compared to everything else that goes into digital art or art in general. However, some people think that having a screen doesn't necessarily make a tablet easier or more comfortable to use. For example, Alt-Tabbing might be a pain in the ass.

Could you go back and read the whole reply chain to see that I wasn't the one who drew Ulyana? Also way to miss the point of my post. It's not like this single dude practicing his drawing skills by taking a request, which happens to be of an underage character, is going to result in the booru being flooded with loli crap because like I already said, you can't post that shit on there due to a loli/shota rule from global booru.org staff.
