 No.2221[Last 50 Posts]

How do you dress? What are you wearing today? How should you dress, as a Marxist? Which trends are proletarian and which are bourgeois?
Discuss.
>>

 No.2222

>>2221
I'm currently wearing Black Combat Boots, Baggy Jeans, a white undershirt with a tshirt on top with the California Flag on it, a cotton and polyester weatherproof jacket and my plastic brimmed glasses. That's my get up most days. Jeans (lined ones as well cause the weather is awful in the Midwest), Boots of some kind, and usually a button up shirt or t shirt with alot being V necks.
>>

 No.2231

Trick question. It's bourgeois to care about fashion trends in the first place.
>>

 No.2232

>>2231
It's bourgeois to care about bourgeois fashion trends, but fashion existed in socialism, feudalism and even primitive communism, so it's not inherently bourgeois.

Black overalls, grey long sleeve t-shirt, white undershirt, wire framed glasses, brown work boots, long wool coat, red scarf, flat cap I made myself. My typical daily attire or similar.

I look for durable and practical clothing made from natural fibres. Sometimes I make my own clothing but I only make/buy new things as I need, repairing when possible which it usually is. Lucky enough to have been taught to sew as a child. Recommend learning how to at least repair busted seams and holes, sew patches properly, etc. I avoid anything obviously branded unless I can remove it, including graphic prints of any kind. Shoes are the exception to my branding rule, and size 16E makes it harder to even try so I get what I can get.

I draw elements from people I have known and admired, in that way a lot of my clothing choices are purely aesthetic. The long coat and overalls combination I took from one of my earliest Marxist mentors. I put care into my appearance without concern for fashion trends or a conscious attempt to look one certain way. Avoiding more than I'm striving for.

>>2232
Yes. All current trends you'll see pretty much start from bourgeois fashion companies. I believe it's an open secret that fashion trends are often planned years in advance. Capitalist trends change frequently so as to be exploited. Spring fashion, summer fashion, fall fashion, winter fashion, back to spring fashion but it's different this year and you need all of it as it comes out. Trends from non-capitalist societies tend to be longer lived and are often more varied(because how much variation is there really in contemporary clothing?), evolving naturally over longer periods of time. No specific trends are inherently bourgeois or proletarian, aside from maybe clothes made for practicality and labour that haven't been incorporated into bourgeois trends. But then can they still be considered fashion?

I'll keep dreaming of the people's Yeezys.

I think that sometimes, but it goes over well. At the very least it's distinctive without being over the top.

Nothing compared to my goth teenage years when I cared an incredible amount about my clothing, hair, looks in general. I wear things that make me feel good about myself now, not things I'll regret.

Black cargo pants , white t-shirt , steel cap boots (black & polished, but worn), I have a straw hat since it is summer, but in winter I wear a knitted cap and a black winter coat, and a East German army surplus coat with the badges removed (they are kept in a folder as collectables) if it is especially cold.

No, it's not. There's nothing wrong with fashion and fashion trends, both will exist under full communism as well. Except under communism there will be no exploitation involved in the creation process of fashion products.

This workwear trend is actually kinda neat if you are trying to secretly LARP as Lenin or Mao or someone. The styles of cuts, collars, and pockets that are on some of these items are very practical and old-fashioned.

Clothing that fits well is more important than anything else. You are better off getting stuff from a thrift store and then bringing it to a tailor rather than buying an expensive brand. If you're not fat, most American stores will not have stuff that fits you.
Be somewhat opinionated. Think of the public or historical figures whose clothing you like. Or think of a certain theme or style. Or a color combo. Then try to achieve it.

Reposting an important piece in regard to crap like pic related.
The idea that capitalism in any way expect uniformity is deceitful. You are not rebelling against capitalism by being different, you can't rebel against consumerism by consuming. In fact the idea that if you want to rebel you should not wear a suit and instead you should get some dumb denim vest with a bunch of patches, is one propagated by capitalism in an effort to commodify revolutionary sentiment.

workwear being trendy is slightly annoying as the usually decent supply of work wear in the thrift stores gets snatched up - but I expect it will cycle back in once the trend expires.
I just wish they made more workwear (incl gloves and equipment) in smaller sizes - it seems like half of these brands start at L and go to like XXXXXL why is everyone Paul fucking Bunyan?

I guess I'm kind of terror-wave? I feel like don't fucking care-wave most of the time, I like my clothes but I'm very aware I'm not making much of an effort, I stand out a bit in the didn't really bother kind of way in bars and stuff because of it, I look super plain which annoys me a little sometimes

I'm thinking about getting some nicer clothes to combat this but at the same time I cringe everytime I get the urge to consoooom something new I don't really need, and I like having tons of pockets and high quality stuff like my coat, which is very functional and well made but isn't very fashionable or sexy, I have like 2 pairs of Jeans and a couple pairs of work trousers and maybe 10 t-shirts and a couple jumpers, I'm tight as fuck about buying fashion clothes precisely because most of the stuff seems really poorly made and fucntionally limited for what you pay, even though I have a ton of technical clothing for outdoorsy stuff, which is the only reason I own these very good boots and the Coats I own

I do mindlessly consoom second hand clothes off ebay though, but its hard finding stuff that both looks good and fits me and is worth getting, I really want an anorak but I can't find a good one for sale at non retarded prices and mostly I end up buying old workwear that doesn't fit me that I either return or pass off to my worky family members, who actually use it for its intended noncringe purpose

you mean replicas? that's a whole industry in itself, with differing levels of quality and distribution streams, etc.. for example, a lot of fake adidas comes out of a particular province in china because adidas has a factory there. the age-old rumour is that factories produce replicas on their off-time, which are identical or pretty damn close to the real thing. there's an entire culture of calling out fakes and unironically preferring them over real items as well.

Depends on what type of women you want to attract (and what your gender expression would attempt to convey in turn)
A strong dude that penetrates effeminate women with his hard stuff? Short hair
A soft dude that doesn't say no when she gets an urge to peg you after having ordered your indecisive ass around for a whole day? Long hair.
There is a complication to this though - the heavy metal look. But this requires long hair (not ponytailed) to go with a buff frame. I'm not exactly sure what type of women this attracts but if I were to guess based on how "groupies" are described it would be hypersexual hedonists.
There, I did my best.

I like it, I think most guys with long hair look beautiful, although liberal hipsters have been ruining it for me lately. But how do you feel about it? And most importantly, what look are you going for? Do you want to look like a hipster or a metalhead? That matters a lot too, long hair can look effeminate or masculine depending on what you do with it, the clothes you wear, and your facial hair. Of course, your personality may also have an influence on the kind of woman you attract.
>>14191
Some girls like it, but it's apparently rare to see guys with long hair in many places, so I can't really say how popular it is among women. I only speak for myself.

>How do you dress?
My main style is all or mostly black with clothes that are a bit masculine. Like boot or straight cut jeans or cargo pants/shorts and combat boots. For the top I wear band t-shirts or a black long-sleeved blouse that looks a bit like a shirt, or, alternatively, a peach-colored shirt (the only one I have, sadly). And if it's cold I can wear my black coat. If I'm not wearing long sleeves I can put on my spiked bracelet. I used to be more enthusiastic about the metalhead look and wore a couple more items like a steel chain necklace, a black belt and a wallet chain, but not anymore. I did get complimented back then when I was wearing my black cargo shorts at school, it was aesome
I wish I could still wear my hair down without it being annoying, but nowadays I just wear it in a messy bun. I cut my hair really short once and it was great, but I'm growing it long again to sell it.
So that's my favorite style, but I have other favorite outfits that are more feminine, although I'm rarely in the mood for them.
But when I'm not feeling like dressing up I just wear the plainest t-shirt or blouse I can find and comfortable shorts, or jeans when I go out. A few months ago I also got used to wearing a red bandana all the time around my neck even when I'm at home. It also makes for a convenient face mask when I forget my actual mask.
>What are you wearing today?

It's nice and free to wear.

I feel like no looks should belong to the rich, We should take back looks.

Anyways my main point of making this post is that I really don't know the names of the various parts of this attire

What do you call the colours that this fit uses?
What do you call the shirts and shorts of this entire fit?
And what do you call the thin belts that is used in this fit?

I remembered somebody on /fa/ linked me to a page of belts like these that had cute drawings of fishes and anchors too and I don't know what is it called when belts have drawings on them?

Is it called embroidery belts? Sadly I wish men's belts were more than just ugly black and brown sickly leather stuff and had more vibrant designs and colours.

I don't have a sewing machine either, I hand stitch everything. I don't use sewing patterns either, everything is freehand. Last shirt i made I basically sewed it onto my body, I would attach small bits of fabric together with sewing pins, making sure they contoured by body correctly by using my body as a mannequin. Then I would take the fabric off my body and properly sew then together with a sewing needle and thread. Unless you are really precise, it might achieve proper symmetry by doing shit in this manner, so I personally don’t even try. The only “technique” I really even know how to do is the whip stitch, so for me the barrier to entry was very low. Done this way, sewing becomes an incredibly cheap hobby, requiring only: Fabric, decent scissors, sewing pins, sewing needle, thread and time.

That I'd wear for an occasion or something. Also have two pair of dress shoes I've had for about the same period of time. I've worn all my Jeans til I blew out the crotch and I'm on my last pair. Haven't bought a new pair since the early 2010s either. I also wear cheap Rothco full wool military watch caps. Tops I like American Apparel. Shame they aren't made in America anymore but you can find a whole lot of colors for around $10 on Amazon.

That's about it. Probably going to buy some new daily beater shoes since these ones the glue is starting to come undone. Transition this pair to around the house only.

I was walking around my neighborhood and I saw a pair of brand new looking New Balances just sitting in a box next to the curb. People are so wasteful it's ridiculous. Can't even bothered to drop their clothing in one of those donation bins.

Have you tried buying products for your hair? Like mousse, oil, wax, etc? Once you're done with puberty, your hair looses oil and becomes drier. Also, try getting a more expensive haircut at a proper barber shop. Ask the barber what he's doing so that you understand what the different techniques are and do.
>>15989
I find the jewfro particularly attractive. There are many options and they all basically look really good.
>>15975
>What are in your opinions the essentials to pull off long hair?
This is obvious but short neat hair is much much easier to pull off. If you want to pull off long hair, look into treating it well. Buying shit for it, etc. Maybe you need to brush it after a shower, maybe you need to leave it a little wet. It also depends on your other attire. A beautiful mane might look less appropriate for a punk style, and unruly hair usually doesn't look good with tight/formal fits.
>>15967
>I wish it was socially acceptable to dress "ridiculous".
Same. I think it's a shame that "western attire" is basically normalized everywhere. I wish I could use african-style clothes, arabian male dresses, folk latin american clothes, etc. Working in the confines of "jeans/chinos + t-shirt/button shirt" is fucking trash.

Lotion/fragrance helps. Bathing every day, and washing my hair with water only helps, and using tiny quantities of shampoo occassionally helps.

I'm slowly replacing my wardrobe with better made and worker fair trade clothing from places like pactwear.
I'm not sure how you'd describe their style, maybe simpler derivative of Abercrombie & Fitch's style. Muted colors, faux stressed, a little preppy even. If nothing else, get pact wears socks. They're all organic and they are the softest best socks I've ever worn.
