Just made some "homemade traveller's bread". Just a sample ammount.
Recipe:
50 gramms of different flour (i used an even mix of rye, corn, rice, wheat and barley)
5 gramms of yiest
4 gramms of salt
around 50 gramms of water (i didn't measure the water. i mixed everything together untill the mix felt like ACTUAL bread material stuff)

Mixed them, didn't let the yiest to make it's magic (because i wanted to test the flavour… the resting only improves the texture afaik). Put it in the oven on low setting (since the original recipe was used to make bread on the fireside… so it wasn't hotter than 150 deg celsius), waited 2 and a half hours (i checked it multiple times during its making… after 2 hours it did not seem to improve). The resault is… very corny, a bit salty, a bit "yiesty", kinda dense and the inside was a bit dough-like (obviously), the crust was super crunchy tho.

Next time i will take a pic of it and document everything properly. In case somebody want to replicate it.

This diet wheel is a bit fucked. What's wrong with fat? What's wrong with dairy? Why are egg yolks, cream cheese and butter all lumped in with poison like fucking soybean oil? Tofu and soybeans are "the best" proteins? Instant potatoes are shit quality, but there's no reason they should be worse than regular white potatoes. Potatoes, despite being rather high on the glycemic index, are far richer nutritionally than grains.
Also, fruits should not be looked at as healthy, all fruits should be looked at as no different from candy. It's just sugar, just because it's "natural" doesn't mean it's somehow better for you.

>How hard have you found Indian-type dishes to make? I should rly give it a try

Well what I usually did for the chicken is mix up a marinade for the chicken consisting of some Marsala powder, some chili powder, some full fat greek yogurt At least about 1/3 a cup for about 2 pounds of chicken (which is a decent substitution for the fat they use in Indian cooking) as well as some lemon juice and a bit of red food coloring to give it that distinctive red coloring.

Then I let it marinade in a plastic bag in the fridge for about 6 hours to over night then cook it on my gas grill. I then made the onions and red bell peppers by cooking them on the stove in some vegetable oil. Then when they are done I serve it up on a plate.

That picture is pretty much the first time I tried making Indian food and I think it was pretty decent for my first attempt.

Stop consuming bourgeois food. Junk food, sodas (COKEacola), etc. are a bourgeois invention of the capitalist epoch made for addiction and profit that your body doesn't need. You must eat organic food, drink water and more natural alternatives. You can produce whole foods at industrial scale. It's just cheaper to separate the parts and recombine them synthetically because porky likes profits and doesn't care about proles (if anything sick proles feed Big Pharma so it would be in their mutual interests).

The "MEME" of organic food was not a common thing, but the actual concept existed. Organic producers rely on natural substances and physical, mechanical, or biologically based farming methods to the fullest extent possible. The USSR did just that. They didn't have cow pens where they would be raised in a 3x6 cage with shit running down their legs, or chickens that were kept in rigid boxes with their beaks set to a constant supply of food. Cage-free, free-range eggs are "organic", compare their contents to that of a GMO chicken. The latter gets pumped with so many hormones and live in such squalor that the egg products are in and of themselves tainted by this. Meat wasn't *'Pink Slime' but the real deal, which is why, after Gorbacehve fucked it up, there were jokes about Sausage meat replaced by toilet paper.

Communist countries didn't call their food industries "organic" - in non-profit driven states, there is no incentive to have cheap harmful food and expensively modified, slightly better versions of the same. all food was "organic" and affordable to everyone. just to give one example, dairy products weren't stuffed with preservatives to the point where a yogurt bottle can stay on shelves half a year or so, but were refreshed each 24-48h. Pesticides used were often tobacco based or otherwise natural and therefore far less harmful than the frog-mutating crap used in California or other places.

For more detail see the food section of https://www.quora.com/Did-the-Soviet-economy-work-at-all/answer/Chuck-Garen

>muh GMO is just conspiracy

Monsanto is a massive monopoly that exerts massive pressure on the scientific community and economy to push its products through. This is capitalist self-interest for it to push that shit onto us. Organic food is more expensive so only the middle class and bourgeois can only eat like this everyday. If you think they wouldn't do that, then read Upton Sinclair's The Jungle, about how they canned rat corpses, rat shit and rat poison along with the meat being sold to ordinary people.

Simple Spicy Marinara + Pasta

<Ingredients:

1 whole onion
1/2 bulb of garlic (like 5 teeth give or take)
tomato paste
red pepper flakes
olive oil
sea salt
crushed black pepper
red wine
can of san marzano tomatoes
basil
oregano
pasta (spaghetti works well)

optional: mushrooms (e.g., bellas), black olives, parmesean (grated from a real block), cayenne, butter

<Process

1. Chop up onion and garlic. Put olive oil in a pan and set it to medium or medium-high heat. Wait until oil is hot—I like to throw a piece of onion in and wait for it to sizzle; that's my cue. Put in garlic + onions + red pepper flakes + tomato paste. Salt and pepper them. Cook for around 5 minutes or until the ingredients are wet/browned.

2. After the sautéing is done, turn off heat and move the pan to the side. Pour in enough red wine to deglaze the ingredients—a few glugs should do it as long as it covers the entire pan. Put back on heat. Turn heat up enough to boil the wine (medium should be good). Wait until most of the wine has evaporated, but not enough for the ingredients to start browning again.

3. Meanwhile, prepare the tomatoes. I'm assuming you have san marzanos from a can. Put only the tomatoes in a blender and pureé them. Discard the liquid from the can, as it is just blended up lower quality tomatoes.

4. After deglazing, pour in the pureéd tomatoes in the pan. Here, you can also add the basil and oregano. If you can, get your hands on fresh basil/oregano, it's better. Meanwhile, boil water in a pot. Salt the water generously (but don't overdo it). Once it gets to a roiling boil, throw in the pasta and then reduce to a simmer.

5. For the sauce, when it gets hot give it a taste test. You might want to add more salt/pepper. I also add a pinch of cayenne here. Cook the sauce until it gets thick—when you can move your spoon (or whatever you're using to stir the sauce) across the sauce and the sauce parts cleanly, then it should be good. Furthemore, you can add in mushrooms, black olives, and other ingredients here if you like.

6. When pasta is ready, transfer to sauce. Some people say to put the pasta water in the sauce too, but I find that it makes the sauce too watery. For me, the pasta water that comes along with the pasta is good enough. When all the pasta is transferred, stir for about a minute. You can throw in a little butter here if you're feeling gluttonous. After stirring, it's ready. Serve with grated parmesean if you'd like, a glass of red wine, and enjoy.

>is the whole pairing drinks with food a western concept?

>like somalieers and shit like that??

>does everybody around the world not just drink water with their food?
I mean doesn't that depend heavily on whether you drink alcohol or not? Most places people drink beer with a meal or tea. Pairing food is just some dumb wino shit. I just like cocktails myself(not buying that expensive shit at restaraunts however.) All you do is you get your favorite soda/juice. You pour in vodka til it's at the concentration you like. Done. It's really simple. I'm partial to Stevia sodas myself. Sugar drinks(even the real sugar/no corn syrup ones) start tasting disgusting after you stop drinking them. Leaves your saliva all thick and weird.

It depends.

From: https://www.thedailymeal.com/difference-between-canned-and-fresh-tomatoes
>When cooking with tomatoes, whether it be for sauces or stews, canned tomatoes are a better choice because they are densely packed and have a higher concentration of flavor that will stand up to heat.

In my experience, this is correct. Also, remember that canned tomatoes are picked at harvest so they are relatively fresh and maintain most of their nutrients when you take them out of the can. Lastly, unless you live in Italy you won't have access to San Marzano tomatoes, so canned is the only way to go.
>>

 No.17145

>>17124
Yes, it is. The tomatoes have to be peeled, or else the soup isn't going to be smooth, and the end result will be a pretty dull-tasting soup w/o the concentrated flavor of the tomato paste. I've made variations of the tomato soup above and the ingredients I listed produce a good tasting soup that doesn't require a lot of work.

You fell for the EU scam bro. San Mazano tomatoes seed are available everywhere. Most of the canned stuff are grew in the American Midwest with the same type of soil. It’s as much as a meme to inflate prices as the modern trends with wagyu beef and cast iron cookware.

well my supermarket doesn't sell fresh san marzano tomatoes, and I don't have a garden nor do I likely live in a climate conducive to growing san marzano tomatoes, so there you go—canned it is for me.

I don't care, my marinara sauce comes out fantastic.

Tonight I tried to make porridge for the very first time in my life, using this video
But I used too much salt, and it tasted like utter shit, and then spent the next 3 hours trying to fix it, but no matter how much more water, milk, oats, sugar, honey, cinnamon and vanilla I used, it still tasted shitty (although a bit less). Is there any way I can fix this mess? In the meantime it looks like I'll go to sleep without eating so good night.

Sweet porridge is a mistake. Oatmeal is a better alternative with a multitude of different textures and flavors based on the mix and the accompanying liquid.
Savory porridge on the other hand is good for all occasions especially when you have a bunch of leftover rice and meat. Cook rice with lots of bone broth (preferably pork bones with marrow or trotters for the added fat and gelatin) in a pressure cooker for about an hour. If you’re lazy you could just cook both the meat, bones and porridge in the same pot but I prefer that the meat still a have a bite to it and not fall-off-the-bone tender. Garnish with poached eggs and some scallions. Perfect brunch.

Take 1 cup oats in a bowl
Mix some sugar and cinnamon in
fill water in the bowl until it is just a hair under the top layer of the oats (just make water level with the oats so its not too watery)

Microwave 1.30 minutes, stir microwave 1.3 mins more

Top off with butter, add seeds, fruits raisins whatever else you want to top it off with. Mix and eat bish

Truth be told, I was a DDD fan too for a little while. What killed it for me was we ate at one of Fieri's restaurants, Johnny Garlic's in Pleasanton, CA. Food was snack bar tier. My gf ordered a salad and the romaine lettuce had grill marks on it. Yee-hah, bbq'd salad! I got shrimp scampi, and the shrimp arrived raw, clearly frozen shrimp they'd rushed out, rubbery and cold. Then they brought us our drinks last, after we'd given up on the food and were looking to bail.

tl:dr Gordon Ramsay should have filmed an episode of Kitchen Nightmares at Guy Fieri's restaurant.

It’s a hothouse industry filled to the brim with petit bourgeois douchebags. Both the failing and successful restaurants have overbearing owners that abuse their workers while paying them terribly.
The worst part is that competitive cooking shows actually glamorize these bastards. Take Gordon Ramsay himself, the image of him in his cooking shows is entirely removed from his real management of his restaurant chain. It’s always mired in worker abuse, shit pay, and using inferior ingredients yet the fucker dares to use this to criticize other shittier owners. The point is not doing those things is bad as a small scale porky, the point is doing it with terrible PR is bad.
