I am an AI slopper, I used to make actually tons of lefty memes in GIMP, many of which are still reposted all the time on this godforsaken site. But for most purposes today, I just enjoy using AI tools more than GIMP these days. I don't see the issue, it's a low-effort shitpost either way.

Your criticism might be more valid by saying sampled music, such as that created by the avalanches, isn't art. That was a popular debate at the time.

However small samples and even long ones have mainstream acceptance in music nowadays. The difference is an artist made something using other people's art, versus the machine making it. The difference is who controls the creative process. A prompt isn't creative as an art piece, it's creative as a prompt.

This sentiment is hypocritical.
AI art is sampling. Just because a machine determines the end product doesn't mean it's entirely automated.

AI art uses pre-existing data.
It often requires multiple samples of the same type of art to get it right
