>>494400>Why do leftists believe that sex is morally good and that sex-positivity is nessesary?Political economy says very little about sex, even though it says a lot about other kinds of social relationships in our society. It's more focused on the social relationships that lead to the material output that is necessary to reproduce society.
You're right to note that there is a brand of leftists who either make sex the main focus of their struggle or at least make it a big part of it.
While these people seem to be the majority of what people consider 'the left' in western countries, I think they have yet to demonstrate themselves to be effective leftists. Every real historical communist movement was conservative by their standards.
Individual grievances we are faced with under capitalism don't manifest themselves under socialism, therefore there isn't a need to focus on many of them.
Identity politics, and therefore discussion about sex, gender, trans issues etc, is a topic that the ruling class would rather you focus on than class issues. You can create more and more categories that you are part of until you are a lone individual in your own set with your own labels. This makes you much easier to fight than if the working class self-actualized as a class and worked together along class lines.
Sex, gooner shit, troon shit, pornography etc is pushed onto people by the ruling class, and injected into every circle of marxists precisely for the same reason that discussion about race is pushed as an alternative to class politics, we've seen an upswing of this during Occupy Wall Street.
Personally I think these issues have no place in a marxist organization that's focused on revolutionary class struggle, as they have yet to prove themselves as furthering the struggle, but make the left intollerable to the conservative working class of america, who will, like you OP, associate the left with being focused on sexuality.
