Israel Election Interference

10 days before Brazil's election, Meta disabled President Lulu's ability to run ads in FB & IG.

Now watch journalist Anthony Loewenstein explain Israel has successfully interfered in elections of countries that cut ties with Israel & got the Pro-Israel candidate elected.

In every case, their first act was to re-establish ties with Israel. What's alarming for us in the U.S. is the Trump Administration is working along side the Israelis because these Pro-Israel leaders also give exclusive access to their country's natural resources to Israel and U.S. corporate looters.

Quick summary of the presidential candidates for the brazillian election this year.

Lula - PT (Worker's Party)

You all know about this guy. Literal factory worker and sindicalist, led some important strikes in the 1980s that put pressure on the military governament, eventually was elected president during the LatAm Pink Wave.

Well the Pink Wave has crested and crashed horribly pretty much everywhere in the continent, but Lula was able to cash in the popularity of his first two governments and get elected for a third term back in 2022. Now he's aiming for his 4th and last term at the ripe age of 80. His victory is very likely given, considering that the opposition is fractured, demoralized, and incompetent. Yet, his 3rd term has been gathering some powerful Ls (of the bad kind) related to corruption scandals (a classic for PT) and lack of ambitious projects (brazillians have been asking for a two day weekend the past few years, a flag first raised by parties to the left of PT, and only now they seem to be nodding at making it happen).

Lula is on the more conservative (or moderate) tip of the Pink Wave; his agenda hasn't touched most of the structural problems of Brasil, and although he has been touting about sovereignty for votes for a while now, he doesn't push for that in any economic or political meaningful manner. That makes him a very tolerable person to Washington, which is probably why the coup that Jair Bolsonaro attempted after Lula's victory failed (the Biden administration wouldn't want to destabilize the second largest economy of the continent, potentially causing a political and economic crisis that would make the migration crisis they were facing worse).

There's more to be said to fill anons in, but some of it would require describing the mechanism of Brasil's institutional politics, and that would deviate from the intention of this post.

>(the Biden administration wouldn't want to destabilize the second largest economy of the continent, potentially causing a political and economic crisis that would make the migration crisis they were facing worse)
Is that really what the Biden admin's motivation was? They didn't seem to care about making the migration crisis worse when they reinstated the sanctions on Venezuela.

That's my personal theory about it but it definitely wasn't the only factor; thing is, a plot like this wouldn't be carried out without the OK from Washington, and that OK never came. I honestly believe that is the case because of the shitshow in Ukraine was still fresh, and the border crisis (specially the venezuelans) was too much for the US to handle, and a crisis in Brasil was the last thing they were interested at the moment, specially because of a crybaby dictator wannabe not being upset he lost fair and square to a proven reliable ally that doesn't rock the boat.

Flávio Bolsonaro - PL (Liberal Party)

First thing you need to get is that all of the Bolsonaros are severally retarded. They are mobsters by trade, associated with the infamous Rio de Janeiro "milícias" (gangs formed by current and former policemen, firefighters, soldiers, etc., involved in drug and weapon traffic, corruption, extortion, racketeering, the whole nine yards) so their number one concern is to make money by duping others and cover their own ass from consequences.

Flávio is the least retarded of the Bolsonaro clan; he's a senator, he has actually articulated political alliances, he's not bald like his other brothers, and he has a clear vision for Brasil: whatever the fuck Washington tells us, plus I gotta get daddy out of jail.

His main obstacle is that despite being the least retarded in the family, that's still severely retarded by normal person standards. He's trying (and failing) to stitch together a right wing alliance to stop Lula's reelection, but even at home he isn't clearly secure as top dog (Michelle Bolsonaro, his father's current wife, was aiming for the ticket, and for a moment it seemed that the two of them would split the PL in half in with their little feud).

Flávio has enjoyed a growth in favor to win the election the past few weeks, however that might melt away now that has been revealed that he was part of the inner circle of Daniel Vorcário, a banker that committed the largest banking fraud in the history of Brasil, among other things. Vorcário even donated $24 million to the production of "Dark Horse", a biopic of Jair Bolsonaro's trajectory to the presidency.

Another issue for him to overcome is that a number of brazillians were traumatized by his father's grotesque indifference with the people victimized by the COVID-19 pandemic, and his lack of effective leadership during the crisis. Basically his name is at the same toxic to a number of people, and at the same time the only thing that makes him a viable candidate to others.

Both him and Lula are avoiding debates as of now, for obvious reasons: the more they talk, the more they give reason for people to vote for the other guy, or just not vote/null their vote. They both have a very solid, loyal base that will carry them to the second round, but once there they need people to hate the other guy more.

Augusto Cury - Avante

There isn't much to talk about the other candidates; they have no chance to make second round unless Lula or Bolsonaro drop dead.

Cury is a writer, psychiatrist, and teacher. This is what it says on his Wikipedia page. Why am I using his Wikipedia page as a source? Because before last month nobody knew who this guy even was. Apparently he writes books, and he is a bit of charlatan, the type that presents his own fantastical ideas of how things work as actual knowledge. Brazilians, for whatever reason, love these types.

Some people liked the answers he gave in the debates he participated so far, so according to BBC News Brasil's aggregated from several polls, that puts him in 3rd in the race with and impressive 4% of votes (technically 4th because "blank", "null", "don't know", and "won't vote" is the actual 3rd place with 9%).

This isn't shocking since if you give a charlatan that pretends to be an intellectual for a living a platform, he will be able to sell his snake oil. His party, Avante, was previously called Partido Trabalhista do Brasil, a right dissidence of the now almost extinct varguista political tradition (think of it as peronism with brazillian characteristics). Their one senator is part of the opposition to PT in the senate, but in the house they are part of the "Centrão", which is a whole can of worms that is beyond the scope of these posts.

Brazil is so fucked once Lula can't run again. Not high praise to Lula here, I don't like him very much either, but they don't seem to be producing anyone else who can even run the country with even a little competence or sovereign interest.

Ronaldo Caiado - PSD (Social Democratic Party)

Caiado is currently the governor of the state of Goiás, which is a hub of agrarian reactionary culture where people cosplay as american cowboys and like to drive Ram trucks because whatever culture they used to have has been replaced by american style performative shit.

Caiado, despite being in a party that is part of Lula's government, is representative of the most backwards and reactionary elements of the brazillian ruling class; he is from a family of "coronéis", owners of latifundio (plantations) that concentrate political power in similar way to medieval landlords. He was president of the "Democratic Ruralist Union", a political entity to "defend the rights of large land owners, and the maintenance of law and order". Basically a lobby group to protect him and his friends from consequences whenever they committed a massacres against peasants.

This is one of the more "moderate" candidates the media was trying to push as an alternative to the "radical left" in Lula and radical right in Flávio. It's akin to the american republicans that think they can put the Trump genie back in the bottle, and return to the days of "civilized" politics of John McCain and Mitt Romney (lol, lmao even).

Renan Santos - Missão (Mission)

There's a non zero chance that these retards will show up because I'm talking about them, which I don't really want. I don't like Lula because he's a traitor to the working class; I don't like Curry cause he's a charlatan; I don't like Flávio and Caiado because they are reactionaries, and I dislike the next few candidates that I'll discuss for various reasons, but I don't mind talking about them because it's interesting to learn about these different elements of brazillian society manifesting in the political sphere.

Missão is not interesting. They are just cringe.

They are a recently registered party from the Movimento Brasil Livre, which is an ideological manifestation of reactionary middle class anxiety. The same type of people who hype crypto, or the Gamestop stock, or become libertarians. You know the type, because these people are extremely online, and their whole identity is built by importing whatever is mainstream in the american right and far right, and try to force that into relevancy to Brasil, a few years ago it was american libertarianism and fiscal conservatism, today it's Bukele's polices of mass incarceration and "judeo-christian" values. Which is why they had Curtis Yarvin invited to their party foundation.

So far I've only discussed the party, but not the man. That's because much like the party and movement, there isn't anything of interesting to talk about this guy. He's a spoiled middle class kid that entered politics because he's mediocre at everything else. He was pro-Bolsonaro when that opened up opportunities, he became anti-Bolsonaro when that ship was sinking; he aspires to be like Milei and Bukele.

Fun fact: one of his jorges did a false flag death threat on the /brg/ thread under the /latam/ board of leftypol.org, that was posted and deleted so quickly, no user of the board actually saw it. They made a screenshot and ran a story that his life was in danger, and wore a bulletproof vest to the event announcing his run for presidency.

tl; dr: these guys are pathetic and the brazillian equivalents of Elon Musk and his shills.

Unfortunately PT is at the center of this problem; the party is plagued with corrupt bureaucrats that are in it for the kickbacks, liberals that will sell out the worker's interests in the name of appeasing the bourgeoisie, and MAGA level lunatics that swear that Lula has a plan to turn Brasil into Utopia, and that everyone who has even the most mild criticism to Lula and PT is doing campaign work for the right. There is no saving it, and the party will probably implode from it's contradictions within 5 years after Lula dies.

Romeu Zema - Novo (New)

Romeu Zema is the current governor of the state of Minas Gerais. He is a trust fund baby that took over the family business that his great grandpa started 100 years ago. Originally a car parts store, the Zema Group is mostly present in medium to small towns, where they sell cars and motorcycles and parts for them, as well as having a financial arm. They also have a furniture and domestic electronic arm. He studied business administration in a prestigious private university (Fundação Getúlio Vargas).

His party, Novo, was registered not to long ago (11 years old) as a new type of right wing in Brasil, that promotes classic liberal values and libertarianism. If this sounds similar to Missão/MBL to you, it's because those guys used to be associated with this party, before having a fight with it's members over some bullshit and leaving. Novo people tend to recruit from the same pool as Missão (middle class young men) but they are less terminally online. They want to pay less taxes, they want you to pull yourself up by the bootstraps, they want to stop the spread of communism in Brasil, with a Friedman and Hayek patriots in control, but with less of the cringe dark enlightenment, neo reactionary, imageboard garbage that MBL is built on top of.

Leonardo Avalanche - PRTB (Renewed Brazillian Labor Party)

Avalanche (a nickname, not his actual name) is a clown candidate from the cultureless backwater that is the state of Goiás. While Caiado is a representative of the old politics and traditions of the state (part of traditional political family with major land possessions), Avalanche represents the vacuum of culture left by the shrinkage of catholicism in Brasil.

The son of an evangelical pastor, he started life in the private sector as a business man (Wikipedia doesn't elaborate what that entails) before being involved in electoral politics. He's just another "pull yourself by the bootstraps" type, and he go the chair after Pablo Marçal, another troll/clown, was forbidden to run for the party.

PRTB is another party founded by right dissidents of the varguista political tradition, they are conservative, populist, shit like that. There isn't much to talk about really, it's a small party of grifters and retards.

Samara Martins - UP (Popular Unity, alternatively Popular Unity for Socialism)

Samara is a dental surgeon and long time political militant. She was part of the Olga Benário Women's Movement and the Black Revolutionary Front, which are respectively the women's and black orgs under UP. She ran as vice-president to this same party in 2022, where they got 0,05% of votes (53,519 total) in the first round.

UP is the mass party of the PRC (Revolutionary Communist Party), an underground clandestine party founded during the military dictatorship period that engaged in armed struggle. They follow the hoxhaist tradition of marxism-leninism. UP has been registered to run in elections only since 2019. Despite being small and new, they have been growing and making noise by participating in urban occupations and strikes. Their strategy is to primarily organize in favelas and ghettos. Despite that have struggled to get representatives elected.

Despite being a left opposition to PT, they will tell you to vote for Lula and PT candidates on the second round of votes without even attempting to extract concessions with them. This is not surprising since they don't have the numbers to make or break and election, and their base is very pulverized across the country, mostly in state's capitals.

Edmilson Costa - PCB (Brazillian Communist Party)

Edmilson is the archetype of the intellectual armchair revolutionary that we all despise. He's a university professor, journalist, economist, has been a militant for several decades (at least since the 1970s). He is the general secretary of PCB, a zombie party, a position which he will take with him to the grave because the last thing he and his cronies want is to lose such a prestigious title.

PCB is one of the parties that claim to be the true and honest communist party of Brasil (despite there being another party literally called Communist Party of Brasil, which was formed by people who split of PCB when they change their name from Communist Party of Brasil to Brazillian Communist Party). The party follows the Kruschev-Brezhnev tradition of marxism-leninism. Recently the past decade they experienced a boost in their youth wing, UJC (Young Communist Union), due to a militant named Jones Manoel who became the online poster boy for the party, as well as radicalization against the Bolsonaro government and PT's lack of actual combativeness against it.

Unfortunately for them Jones and his clique tried to use his popularity as leverage in an internal dispute (some may call it coup attempt), and they got purged. Now PCB is back to being just an asylum for mostly elder university professors and other intellectuals that.

Despite being a left opposition to PT, they will tell you to vote for Lula and PT candidates on the second round of votes without even attempting to extract concessions with them. This is not surprising since they don't have the numbers to make or break an election, and their base is very pulverized across the country, mostly in state's capitals.

Hertz Dias - PSTU (Unified Socialist Worker's Party)

I kid you not, this guy's first name is "hertz". Brazillians will name their kids anything.

Hertz Dias is a history teacher and rapper, you can find some of his work on YouTube with the group Gíria Vermelha. There isn't much else about him in his Wikipedia page, but being a teacher and member of PSTU, I'm wiling to bet he was involved with the teacher's union at some point.

PSTU were originally formed by a series of different trotskyst groups that had splintered of other, bigger trot parties and groups. They originally organized themselves as a tendency inside PT, then called Socialist Convergence. They left/were kicked out/split from PT in 1992 when they were told to quit yapping, but that's  like asking a republican to not support a pedophile, so they left and in 1994 they founded the PSTU.

I've heard they had a big footprint in unions during the 1990s, but I can't confirm that. Today they are another small party to the left of the PT, but unlike UP and PCB, they didn't have a recent boost in popularity, probably because they are late to the "let's use internet to recruit new militants, or at the very least to explain to people what we are all about" trend that UP and PCB have surfed on. In the 2010 elections they got 84,609 votes in the first round, versus the 25,625 they got in 2022. Being a trot party, they have a number of dissident groups that left them for some bullshit, I don't know.

Despite being a left opposition to PT, they will tell you to vote for Lula and PT candidates on the second round of votes without even attempting to extract concessions with them. This is not surprising since they don't have the numbers to make or break an election, and their base is very pulverized across the country, mostly in state's capitals.

Rui Costa Pimenta - PCO (Worker's Cause Party)

This guy is the only good trotskyst. What makes it so? He's funny.

Rui Costa is a journalist that has been a militant since the mid 1970s, starting in the student's union. His grandpa, João da Costa Pimenta, was actually one of the founders of the real Communist Party of Brasil back in 1922, before being kicked out for being mentally ill (trotskyst). He is a die hard supporter of Hamas, Hezbollah (if you see people in Brasil waving their flags, it's always PCO people), and Neymar for some fucking reason. He defends Russia's special military operation (war) in Ukraine, and he has gained some momentum by being anti-woke. This is tangential, but I actually knew someone who met him IRL, and he said the dude is chill.

PCO is a kind of an ex that never got over the break up. After being kicked out of PT in the same event that got PSTU spelled, they briefly participated in the same Revolutionary Front group as them, but were vetoed from joining PSTU when it was formed (you'll see why in a moment). After being expelled from 2 parties, they decided to make their own and in 1995 PCO was formed (registered in 1997).

Although this is all very interesting, it's an open secret that PCO is basically a private business that Rui Costa and his family own. Whatever they say goes, and if you don't like that's tough shit, it's their party. Rui Costa even traveled to Qatar to meet with Hama's political leader, Ismail Haniya, for no fucking reason other than he wanted to.

Unfortunately for them, using a legal and registered party to give jobs and kickbacks to friends and family while trash talking israel has consequences, and they are now under investigation for misusing party funds (which they are). The thing is that they are a small, insignificant party with 7k members, that has been running this racket (which literally all major parties also do) for decades, but this is the one time the electoral tribunal started investigating someone for it. It really makes you think!

They are often accused of being nazbols or Bolsonaro supporters by left liberals (and left liberals pretending to be marxists) because of their stance of not adopting liberal orthodoxy in regards to women's and black people's struggle, as well as skepticism of the LGBT movement.

Despite being a left opposition to PT, they will tell you to vote for Lula and PT candidates on the second round of votes without even attempting to extract concessions with them. This is not surprising since they don't have the numbers to make or break an election, and their base is very pulverized across the country, mostly in state's capitals. Never mind, none of this applies to them. They are the biggest fans of Lula, and when you accuse their militants of being petistas, they just turn into the gigachad wojak and say "yes", which makes the choice of trotskism as an ideology confusing. Logo goes hard tho.

Nunca.

Enfim, engajando no fio.

Yankee are not to blame, Lula did a terrible job governing, and he won in 2022 with a small marging of 0,9%. He had to at the very least make this the best presidential term in brazillian history, but he made mediocre.
