What the fuck is up with these places?
Why the fuck do anglos think that it is ok to house animals in these conditions and treat animals like this? Isn't it pretty fucking retarded to be trying to preserver species of animals anyways? At least from the stand point of nature? Shouldn't we be allowing the ecosystem to grow and adapt to us even if we are fucking it up? That seems more reasonable. Why the fuck are zoos a thing?

Most zoos are actually trying to make habitats that resemble the natural environment a little.
> Isn't it pretty fucking retarded to be trying to preserver species of animals anyways?
Probably not, it takes a long time for an animal species to evolve into a niche, waiting for the ecosystem to evolve a replacement species takes a bajillion years

Even still, I mean, you can't really keep animals in captivity that are supposed to wander around their whole lives living out natural cycles of their biology from season to season. These animals are supposed to roam their entire lives and interact with nature their entire lives. You can't really re-create that.

Zoos can probably do good enough with the habitat simulation to preserve species for the next few hundred years until humanity builds a dysonsphere and building a continent sized space capsule with a perfectly tailored environmental simulation becomes cheap enough to be somebodies weekend hobby.

nothing. society is a human zoo anyway

Some animals are perfectly fine in enclosures because they spend most of their lives in a tiny space. Caging an animal like a wolverine is pretty sick though.

I agree that many zoos are indeed cruel. The worst one I visited was in Beijing, where only the Panda had an acceptable enclosure.

but,

zoos are also places of ecological research,

curiosity is a natural human trait. we should be doing all we can to preserve species, and hopefully clone species like passenger pigeons or dodos that we hunted to extinction.

I hate zoos because the animals remind me that I am also a caged animal.

annoying and difficult, ugh. I prefer to do all my animal conservation and study within walking distance of a food court.
