That's good to hear. How does their implementation work? So far we've had Jitsi-based conferences on Element, which I quite like. You can add a little Jitsi widget to your room and people can freely come in and out of the call, much like channels in Discord.

In the twitter thread you linked it seems Google banned them for hosting an extremist community that might've use that as a base of Ops / raids, it's not entirely clear, matrix team them sends a letter explaining how communities work on matrix and shortly after it's back? I'd be interested in details here too. It might be a good precedent to make our own leftypol.org matrix server instead of relying on the default matrix.org hosted in the Queen's England.

There is also pantalaimon, a proxy dameon that can encrypt and decrypt E2EE for arbitrary clients.

Disclaimer: I haven't used any of them except for Element, and some like Nheko have disclaimers about their E2EE being 'proof-of-concept'. Read before you rely on it. I recommend Element for E2EE because at least it's been externally audited; I don't know if others have (only because I haven't checked).

That's a pretty major and serious gash imo, especially within the context of this community, where one ought to assume that there are malicious actors that would be very happy to exploit shit like this.

I'm personally going to wait 6 more months or so and check back if some well-developed client is able to support all three of the categories listed above, until then I'll keep using Element.
