Not only is Weebl a talented musician and singer-songwriter, he's also a great animator and character designer. His art style gives me Motorcity and early Gorillaz vibes, an art style which I don't see used often. The closest things I can remember are Tartakovsky's works, Ballmastrz and Skullgirls.

Yeah honestly, guy could have just been a skilled Depeche Mode-type synthpop guy but he sacrificed himself to make great flash cartoons also.

On a serious note, Skullgirls not only has marvellous animation and gameplay but it also has an excellent jazz soundtrack.

Sadly the game fell victim to the same thing that happened to .org. May its Skullheart rest in peace.

When Jason wiped snot on a mod's jacket in the kitchen
His conscience was watching from behind the fridge
He got mistaken for a poofter outside Kingburger's
And cried into his moustache
He declared his chips horrible
And threw them into the gutter

Later he went for a walk in the park
Children ran up and spat at him
Even the birds in the trees seemed to whisper, "GET FUCKED!"

There was a message for him when he got home
His mother had rung him to tell him he was DEAD!
DEAD!
DEAD!
DEAD!

Is sampling inspired by funk's call-and-response?
>>

I thought many genres have call and response? I've heard country players do it, I think jazz musicians do a variation of it.

I think sampling is just a direct result of the medium, if music can be played back repeatedly (which was probably done for the first time with vinyl) it will be used musically.

Also grandmaster flash is often credited for inventing looping with how he used a pair of turntables and the same record to loop the drum part.

>I thought many genres have call and response?
Funk's call-and-response is unique in that it has very short catchy phrases repeated over and over to create a rhythm, just like samples do. I don't think other genres' call-and-response is as repetitive and rhythmic. Funk songs usually don't have that much deep meaning, it's just motivational messages used to make the crowd dancing. Which really shows funk's influence on disco, house, hip-hop and many, many other cool genres.
