Little Susie Shallow Throat was lonely
All the girls all made fun of her at school
'Cause no matter how she tried
She could not get a dick inside
Her shallow throat
Shallow throat

Hot Dogs and bananas were too big
Cucumbers and sausages
They just would not fit
She tried 'em all

The football team all tried to give her lessons
She practiced but she threw up on the coach
Not one man on the squad

The problem is not what they are singing. The evil lied in the scheme of mass consumption of cultural commodities that arise after WWII. This kind of music in fact has nothing bad per se. It would have been perfectly fine if people owned it, played it and enjoyed it in tabernae or wherever. The record market, radios, tvs transformed even the artists into commodities and labels; even singing about class struggle could have been exploited the same way.

>But why do they sing about love and heartbreak and Christianity instead of class struggle?
Why did western classical composers from 200 years ago write operatic fantasy, romance, and tragedy instead of about class struggle?

Shit, better go yell at somebody for listening to Mozart. Better condemn Mussorgsky immediately; the USSR didn't, but maybe that's why the USSR ultimately failed, they didn't understand the importance of pretending to be morally above historical music that was in no way revolutionary and didn't pretend to be. Unlike you, a definitely very serious socialist who will create the world's most successful socialist revolution by complaining about Martha and the Vandellas.

>>2075
This, the subject matter doesn't actually matter that much. The evil is in the industry. That's not to say there wasn't music around less un-revolutionary than Motown hits, in terms of lyrics, but even that can be mass-marketed and it isn't revolutionary on its own to sing about class struggle.

Most mainstream musicians at this point are considerably worse to listen to than Burzum, and I say this as someone who pretty much never listens to Burzum and thinks Burzum is kind of overrated (Mayhem, Emperor, Gorgoroth, Darkthrone, Bathory > Burzum). Burzum is merely a guy who killed one of my favorite guitarists, is personally a racist, burned some churches, and stole a family's car in a parole violation. The structure that mainstream pop musicians are a part of does way worse than that - David Geffen, Lucian Grainge, Len Blavatnik, these guys are all using the finances sucked up through their puppet artists to pay for genocide, as direct donors to "israel" and the IOF. Like, Dua Lipa, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Ed Sheeran, Green Day, Linkin Park, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Madonna, Taylor Swift, Drake, Billie Eilish, Post Malone, Olivia Rodrigo, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Morgan Wallen, Kendrick Lamar, Adele, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Lorde, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Lil' Wayne, Drake, Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves, Bon Jovi, The Beatles, Queen, Lana Del Rey, Katy Perry, Halsey, Sam Smith, Niall Horan, Nas, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Blackpink, Noah Kahan, Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, Weezer, blink-182, The Cure, Beck, Weezer, Nirvana, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Common, Kali Uchis, Camila Cabello, Gracie Abrams, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jannelle Monáe, and more all objectively have more blood on their hands, and are bigger Fascists on an institutional level, than Varg Vikernes, who is a Fascistic murderer with blood on his hands.

Like, the freakish, isolated personal level of racism and violence perpetrated by a guy like Varg just has no comparison whatsoever to the scale of violence and racism financed by artists who are major money machines directly hooked up to zionism and the U.S. empire. Folks are kind of conditioned not to notice this, and to prioritize small-scale stuff in the same way that folks are conditioned to get more mad about petty theft than they are about mass-evictions, wage theft, land speculation, and large-scale theft by bankers. Measuring everything in entirely interpersonal judgments of purely persPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Radiohead is still refusing to distance itself from Jonny Greenwood's continued insistence on crossing our picket line. By performing in apartheid Tel Aviv, alongside an Israeli artist who has repeatedly entertained the genocidal Israeli military, Greenwood is artwashing Israel's genocide against 2.3M Palestinians in Gaza.

Of Greenwood's shameful stance, Thom Yorke says "I get it." Well, Palestinians don't. Drummer Phil Selway says it's "impossible" for Radiohead to distance itself from Jonny Greenwood's artwashing of genocide. That's their choice. Here's ours: the Palestinian-led global BDS movement reiterates its call for the boycott and peaceful protest of Radiohead's now-confirmed tour, which starts [this] week.

Why is Radiohead not as harsh on Israel as opposed to mainland China, such as when they played at the Free Tibet concerts in the late 90s and early 2000s?

Furthermore Radiohead also urged fans to campaign to free Li Xiaobo, who, when asked what it would take for China to realize a true historical transformation, said, "[It would take] 300 years of colonialism." and "[…] I have my doubts as to whether 300 years would be enough". Furthermore Xiaobo also received a $650,000 grant from the NED (National Endowment for Democracy), which is funded by US congress.

Radiohead are frauds… maybe even an op, honestly. Their pro-"israel" bias supposedly derives from Johnny Greenwood being married to a woman who was in the IOF, but in that case why pretend to be outspoken anti-badthingists at all?
It's very odd, the explanation that one of them is married to an "israeli" so they literally cannot criticize anything which is directly understood to be "israel"-related. They tried to re-puff their bogus anti-establishment image recently by acting mad about ICE using one of their songs for some weird ICE promo video, but if she had been in the IOF a few years later, Johnny Greenwood's girlfriend could have literally trained the ICE agents who are going around shooting people and detaining people for criticizing a certain apartheid state, and Radiohead are actively banking on people not understanding that, and actively encouraging them to ignore it. It's weird to posture as outspoken and actually be aggressively obscurantist.
