Streaming anime is a bad idea because, in addition to other things I don't know the exact details about (you can probably Google it), the quality is a lot lower. It's better to just torrent anime off of nyaa.si.
If you're too lazy: twist.moe is better, it's less likely to mine your computer for bitcoins.

>quality is a lot lower
Unless you're looking for HD resolution and doing more than watching things casually 720p is perfectly fine resolution TBH

I don't care enough to bother with torrents unless I intend to use a downloaded video for more than just a single viewing, cause deleting downloaded files is more of a hassle than computer scan deleting temporary files from streams.

Torrents are literally communism. Don't be a fag and help everyone out by seeding high quality anime, if at least temporarily.

If you're still going to stream at least use an adblocker.

Why is this even necessary to say? Obviously I use adblockers, I've been using them for nearly a decade now.

Finally watched Kino no Tabi after a years-old recc, and I'm curious what the broader analysis on it is, and where we figure it stands. I found the 2003 series was pretty left on a few topics, specifically how many countries provide an allegory for the flawed and ideological way people perceive work and its purpose.
However I've been seeing a few wrinkles to that. I can't help but notice all the times in Kino no Tabi that a revolution against a king is exactly what causes a country to fail (not all but most, and most successful revolutions have the monarch secretly still hanging around,) begging the question of whether the show/books is ultimately projecting a Burkean outlook on the world.
This is compounded by how much emphasis is placed on the individual, though this is somewhat inevitable considering it focuses on a solitary wandering protagonist. However that emphasis on personal responsibility could be easily reframed in a negative way; it would be easy for some right-winger to interpret "country of radio waves" in the 2017 anime, where random murders are blamed on a radio tower that turns out to no longer exist, so that the any sort of institutional critique explaining crime could be imposed metaphorically on the tower, reducing societal dysfunction to purely individual choices.

I know that since there have been Kino stories for 20 years, most of what I've said may well be overturned in another tale–but do my my critiques stick?

What do YOU make of Kino no Tabi?

Also: Kino's 2003 hat is superior to the 2017 hat.

I'm calling Asushin victory in the next Evangelion.

I'm basing this a process of elimination and the ending of EoE. Kaworu is dead, Rei will be used in the instrumentality and Mari doesn't fit the ending thematically. Since the instrumentality will be started with 01 and Asuka lacks her Evangelion it's safe to assume she'll be in the middle of it.

Barring Anno dropping a brick on her head she'll be the last one standing with a confesion. Tic toc Mariasufags, tic toc.

NGE is unironically one of the best series I have ever seen in my entire life, 2D or 3D. I don't think it's pretentious at all. It's fan base, maybe. The movies seem to be milking off the brand, though.

it's worth it even if you want to read just one of the routes, additionally, it's not that plot-heavy nor dense and the characters are memorable - reading it on and off is fine, I myself have been doing this for around a year and I'm not done with every game of the series yet

Jesus Christ what an awful trope. What are some anime or manga with actually good romance development? Pic very related.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is the most mature romance anime i know, ironically based on an eroge

Eroge can be based. There's a reason why there's a term to separate eroge only meant to jack off to and another for modern literary VN masterpieces.

Definitely a boring trope, but I can ignore it if I like a story enough.

Nah I don't think literally. Imo she was just as god as the other guy, and even though she tries to one-up him with psychological warfare she never really transcends what he is either. He just liked to mess a bit with the world because he had the power, and when Lain got the power to she just made stuff normal for probably equally as selfish reasons (although I still am trying to find an interpretation that avoids "infallible psychological egoism" or smth) so she more so represents an artificial god of man that they have created. Lots of different interps tho and even the creators weren't sure what the coherent explanation/meaning was

At the risk of sounding like a pseud, I love Fujimoto's works because they feel more like movies than manga. They're very well done

SO what? There is only 1 or 2 posts mentioning reddit and it was related to the topic since traps are just a form of waifuism and escapism into "looking at cute anime girls" is essentially a form of waifuism as well.
