anyone confused by people saying that this game was about letting go of the ideals of communism or something?

Maybe it's a valid explanation if you weren't a completionist that explored all the dialogue options, but there was so much text about how lively, young, and healthy the Deserter was.

However, as soon as the realisation that he was going to be arrested happened, he turned lifeless, and into a shell.

The phasmid becoming material happens right after the Deserter becomes lifeless. There's a small bit of flavor text, but my phasmid left me saying to continue working towards the Revolution and the workers. Right after the conversation ends, the Phasmid runs away. Also, remember to consider that there was text implying that the phasmid itself was giving the Deserter the will to keep going.

The disappearance of the Phasmid and the lifelessness of the Deserter lines up too well for me to accept the mainstream talk of "hatred and anger" made him "lifeless". It has been despair, and it has been like that for each and every one of the characters, especially Harry, that keeps people teetering between life and death.

>anyone confused by people saying that this game was about letting go of the ideals of communism or something?
Never heard this interpretation but not surprised that people would make up shit like this to not have to admit the game is blatantly biased towards leftism.
I think your post is basically correct. Disco Elysium is clearly a game about finding a way to keep going after failure, not embracing desistance. These are two very different things. As you mention, the conversation with the phasmid is arguably the key scene for the entire game. The point is that humans are capable of tremendous, terrifying things, and this is where we can find hope even after failing miserably, again and again. Hence "you are a violent and irrepressible miracle". The only way to see the game as an apologia for pessimism is by ignoring this scene altogether.
It's crazy to me that anyone could play a game that is transparently an allegory for Eastern Europe after the fall of communism (although, obviously, with plenty of details from other places and historical moments mixed in) and think the point is to just accept all the misery as it is.

What do you guys think of GrOb and Letov in general? Theres probably a lot thats been lost to me with the language barrier but he still seems like a very intresting musician, very emblematic of a lot of phenomena that happened immediately before and after the fall of the USSR

>Letov's political views were incoherent garbage.
And that's why he's so good, he embodied perfectly that whole period in Russia. Though if anything he identified with pure anarchism (aka a blank sheet to say whatever the fuck you want)
>>1342
Well to begin with he was principally influenced by the 20s soviet avantgarde, futurism and all that jazz, I think it was a failure of the
soviet system to absorb these people as much as he was an edgy fuck

Letov's political views were described by him as "Forever will I oppose". So, rebellion for the sake of rebellion.
So-o-o yeah, they are garbage, but not incoherent.

It's a show designed to be bad, riding the razor's edge of antihumor and just being unfunny.

I still like the monologues and the bits that they write. But Adam's just not great at improvisation, and without Stav to laugh at Nick's jokes, Nick lacks the riffjuice he needs to power his autistic joke engine.

But since you asked, I'll drop some The Adam Friedland Show and Cum Town OC. And one CT-inspired webm

Since a lot of time has passed since the old thread was made and all the old servers apparently got nuked by the hosting service, I have decided to create a new one on the Aternos account that I have registered back in the Bunkerchan days. Just like the previous one, it runs on one of the newer versions (1.19.2) of the game with a simple custom modpack that contains tech mods like Mekanism and the Thermal series, as well as some that add new elements to the game world as a whole such as Biomes O' Plenty and Aquaculture. Some previous additions like Pam's Harvestcraft and Chisel had to be pruned however due to lack of a 1.19.x version or being too resource extensive.

Instructions on entering the new server:
>Download UltimMC https://nightly.link/UltimMC/Launcher/workflows/main/develop
>Download the modpack https://dataism-x.com/en/lykCjryezJzfyh4/file
>Extract the UltimMC archive anywhere you like
>Launch UltimMC
>Create an account record in the UltimMC accounts section in top right (no Microsoft account required)
>Install the modpack through Add instance > Import from .zip
>Launch the newly "LeftyCraft" created instance
>Add “leftycraft.aternos.me” into your server list and join the game

To start up the server in case it is down:
>Log into aternos.org with account “leftypoluser” (password: solidarityforever)
>Press the “Start” button
Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

Have depictions of LGBTQ sexuality finally hit a limit with audiences. I always believed that the popularity of homosexuality in media was actually malicious especially from women. For straight women gay males are very often the perfect man. A male, often effeminate, that they can emotionally bond with that will never ever put demands on them sexually. Basically a man that friend zones himself that will never grow bitter. This is actually the template for boy band and their popularity but that's and of understandable because preteen girls are attracted to boys but find their sexuality intimidating. You're supposed to grow past this kek
Much like straight males' mythologization of lesbians, CIS women's interest in gay males is only in so far as it serves their own egos. They're not actually interested in these men as people, and the failure of this movie proves it.
I've only seen the previews but it stuck me as a very unapologetic depiction of an idealized gay romance from and for homosexual men. I didn't know about the explicit sex scenes but I find it interesting that for over a decade on social media women pilloried men that chaffed at homosexual characters and now that they have an opportunity to see a gay love scene they balk.
This has got to be the umpteenth movie that's tried to serve the woke market and crashed on the rocks. Maybe movie makers in the future can include some kind of social media cache for watching their movie like a badge that appears next to their Twitter handle, because social capital is what really motivated the meteoric rise of LGBTQ support in the mainstream.

Haven't seen this movie, so this is more a general observation.
You have to understand the business model of this type of entertainment, they make lower quality stuff and try to offset that by adding cultural pandering.

I don't know if it's really ego-exploitation, I think women like stories where the protagonist has to resolve relationship conflict. It's a very limiting framework from a narrative standpoint because it's either a man-v-himself or man-v-opponent type of story. For reference the least limited type of story is man-v-environment.

The main character is a neurotic nerd that's dating a chad. Essentially he's all the qualities that women associate with incels. Women HATE seeing beta men, especially depicted in a humanizing light (because it lays bare their own rabid bigotry against them)
Ironically his character is a copy and paste template of most Cinderella style female romance movies.

Hollywood still hasn't learned that having all the characters in a film be queer/women/POC is not by itself a reason for people to see it regardless of what their political views are. We watch movies to engage in a narrative for a couple hours. Tell us a story! We'll sniff our own farts and feel smug about how right our politics are on Facebook later.

Also, who the fuck did the producers think would watch a film like that? Only certain women like rom-coms, and they just project themselves into the leading lady's role. Can't do that without a leading lady! Were they thinking that gay men would watch it? While gay men may be gay, they're still men. That rom-com bullshit ain't gonna play with them.
